I really don't want to trade for him. But I do think there's a little truth to the possibility that they will heavily explore it if they don't make it to the ECF this year and NY beats them again. It's kind of like 2023, they had a great team but kept coming up short and then Brad made those nuclear moves for Holiday + Porzingis in the offseason.

I still think they won't trade the Jays under any circumstance, but if they get bounced before the ECF, I think they'd be okay exploring and dangling White + others. In theory that may not seem like enough but it also depends what the market is. Is another team offering more or a much better player than White? Rumor has it MIL was heavily considering doing it for Herro + Ware. Are those guys that much better than White? Is a team like NY gonna try for Giannis, or will they hold tight. I don't think it's gonna be a situation where 10 teams make an offer. We theorized that but I think there's a reason MIL ended up holding on to him, and some teams are hesitant to give up a big piece to acquire Giannis which would make it kind of a lateral move (like Houston giving up Sengun or the Pistons giving up Duren in a package).

Overall I'd prefer to keep it mostly status quo and just explore options with the Porzingis TPE and/or bringing back Vucevic on a Horford-like role + contract, but you certainly have to explore options like Giannis IF they don't beat NY and lose in the 2nd round again. The only exception here of course is if, god forbid, they suffer multiple long term injuries soon that affects them in the playoffs which would obviously be a legit reason/excuse.

What has changed over the course of this year IMO is that you can probably get Giannis for Brown. Not true in the past, but JB showed convincingly this year that he can lead a team on his own (obviously needs a viable supporting cast). Bucks might have to throw something in given JBs younger age and Giannis? health. Healthy GA is the more impactful player.  I?m not sure I would hate that deal - that is if the Cs get beat by the Knicks, Cavs, or Pistons. I think Cs are already viewed as a notch below at least two WC teams, maybe three.

I don't think that Brown for Giannis makes us appreciably better.

I don't either, which is why I wouldn't do it for the Jays. If it takes one of them, then yeah I'll pass and I think Stevens will too. MIL can decide not to engage either.

But I also don't see another team offering a similar package for Giannis either where they give up the equivalent of a Jaylen/Tatum/Cade/Bam/Sengun-type talent or alpha for a certain team (like Bam isn't on the level of Tatum/Jaylen but he is Miami's alpha player). It didn't seem like Miami wanted to put Bam in trade talks. The Knicks are another option but it depends if MIL is fine taking back KAT, otherwise idk if NY wants to give up the pieces around that (nor do I think Bridges has much value so it'd have to be Brunson, or OG + a bunch of others).

I could absolutely be proven wrong. Things can change in the offseason. But if a team was already willing to give up a package like that I think Giannis is already somewhere else. And I also don't think Giannis wants to go to a terrible team (he can influence things a little)

Crazy thought.

You trade White, Hauser, Queta and two of Hugo/Baylor/Jordan plus two #1s for Giannis.

That means you gotta find value in min contract guys.

Well, there is this guy in LA that's gonna be a free agent and is desperate to win another title. Would Lebron, seeing the writing on the wall that a Boston Big 3 of the Jays and Giannis was going to win titles, decide he would be okay taking a min deal to become a Big 4 and win another championship to add to his legacy?

Pritchard
Brown
Lebron
Tatum
Giannis

That would make for a fun starting 5.

LeBron is the anti-Celtic!  It would be just like him to flee to another super team.   His game is in decline especially the physical tools.  He would show bad habits to the J's like quitting and blaming team mates.  Every team he has left was left in shambles from bad deals he demanded.  To me, watching LeBron is boring, almost as bad as James Harden.  Lebron has reduced shooting efficiency (notably in 3-point percentage), lower shooting percentages at the rim, and decreased defensive impact at his age.  He is still productive but it is debatable if he is a top 30 player anymore and if he makes an all NBA team it will be charity votes.

I am not sure, I would want Giannis but I definitely would not want LeBron.  Team chemistry is an important thing.   Both are still great players  that produce well,  but limited winning the last few years.  I like our present chemistry and team culture both LeBron and Giannis could cause havoc with that stuff.

We have Queta another year at a controlled cost.  We have Hauser into 2028. Scheierman is cost controlled into 2027 and Hugo into 2028.  These guys grew up before our eyes,  I surely and not the only guy who feels this way.

I don't think his ego would allow him to take a minimum deal, regardless of any interest.

Also, Joe requires everybody to play defense, which LeBron stopped doing years ago.
