I think it Langaliers or bust at this point.
Well, it would have been a bust.
Athletics All-Star catcher Shea Langeliers could miss the remainder of the 2026 season after suffering a torn meniscus in his right knee, sources told ESPN, another blow to a team already ravaged by injuries.
Wonder if we pivoted to Mead after hearing news about Langeliers. I know this news was reported after the trade, but that's only when it became official for public release.
I'm not as low on this trade as others. I liked Early, but didn't love him. We have a lot of pitching depth and not enough spots for everybody. I agree with C21 that both teams are probably thinking they're selling high and hoping that the player they gets turns into the real prize. In reality, both guys will probably be pretty good and it helps balance both teams, too.
The Harrison/Hamilton for Durbin/Seigler/Monasterio trade looked pretty bad for a while, but it looks like we have a keeper at 3B on an amazing contract for years to come. Maybe the Red Sox can't draft and develop positional players, but they certainly can with pitchers. If we need to trade pitching depth to get what we need, I am okay with that.
