Bello has been sent to Triple A.

Quote
The Red Sox have made a decision on what to do with righthander Brayan Bello. The team has optioned him to Triple-A Worcester, according to a MLB source.

With a 2-6 record and 6.34 ERA, the season could not be going much worse for Bello. But his first-innings numbers are eye-popping. After allowing six runs before the Red Sox grabbed their bats in Thursday?s 8-2 loss to the Orioles, the 27-year-old has allowed 15 runs ? all earned ? in eight starts, a 16.88 ERA with a WHIP of 3.13.

He has a 10.35 ERA in the eight times he has started a game and a 0.71 ERA in the four games the Red Sox have utilized an opener for him.

In his previous appearance before Thursday, Bello pitched seven scoreless innings against the Guardians last Friday, but the Red Sox lost, 4-3, as Tyler Samaniego surrendered four runs on six hits in the first.

Bello?s previous start came May 17 in Atlanta, an 8-1 loss in which he allowed three runs in the first and two more in the second. His final line read, seven runs on eight hits over five innings.

They should have sent him down as soon as this became an issue so that he could work it out of his system in the minors. Instead, they?ve tried to bandaid the situation which resulted in a bunch of losses.

Wonder who they give the 5th starting spot to at this point.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I am sure Bello is not happy about this but he needs to demonstrate that he has this figured out.  He says that he is a starter, he needs to prove it.  Prove he can get out of the first inning.  I think he will, the "stuff" seems to be there.  He needs to understand that the result for him have not been acceptable.  This is on him.  It is more than just a bad season.

One of the few good moves the team has made sending him down to the minors.

Sounds like Jake Bennett will take his spot.

I will lose my mind if Breslow tries to buy at the deadline to "save his job" instead of selling Chapman, Gray, etc. etc. at the deadline. Some of these guys especially Chapman can get back a haul at the deadline.

What do you mean? The Sox are only like 3 games out of a wildcard spot.

The last 10 days has pretty much cemented that this team is awful.

I actually hope they go on an extreme losing streak so the organization can't trick itself into thinking they have a chance before the deadline.

This season has been a worst-case scenario. Best pitcher injured, "best" (i.e. most potential) hitter injured, trading viable starting pitching prospects for middling infielders, firing an entire coaching staff in a "Red Wedding" fashion, Bello imploding, Crawford/Gonzalez/Casas/Oviedo all not making an appearance during the first half of the season, Duran/Yoshida/Durbin/Story all being the absolute worst version of themselves. I'm sure there's more that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Trade all the good players and fire the rest. This team's future is as bleak as it's ever looked. All of the cost-controlled young players are giving the team exactly what you'd expect from low-cost options: not much. So far, Campbell, Mayer, Duran, and Rafaela have disappointed, Anthony's been okay (when healthy), Wong never panned out, Narvaez's good rookie season seems like an anomaly, and several of the young pitchers (Crawford, Houck, Bello) have been bad and/or injured too often. Maybe keep Tolle, Early, Anthony, and Crochet and trade everyone else.
