Bello has been sent to Triple A.

The Red Sox have made a decision on what to do with righthander Brayan Bello. The team has optioned him to Triple-A Worcester, according to a MLB source.

With a 2-6 record and 6.34 ERA, the season could not be going much worse for Bello. But his first-innings numbers are eye-popping. After allowing six runs before the Red Sox grabbed their bats in Thursday?s 8-2 loss to the Orioles, the 27-year-old has allowed 15 runs ? all earned ? in eight starts, a 16.88 ERA with a WHIP of 3.13.

He has a 10.35 ERA in the eight times he has started a game and a 0.71 ERA in the four games the Red Sox have utilized an opener for him.

In his previous appearance before Thursday, Bello pitched seven scoreless innings against the Guardians last Friday, but the Red Sox lost, 4-3, as Tyler Samaniego surrendered four runs on six hits in the first.

Bello?s previous start came May 17 in Atlanta, an 8-1 loss in which he allowed three runs in the first and two more in the second. His final line read, seven runs on eight hits over five innings.

They should have sent him down as soon as this became an issue so that he could work it out of his system in the minors. Instead, they?ve tried to bandaid the situation which resulted in a bunch of losses.

Wonder who they give the 5th starting spot to at this point.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I am sure Bello is not happy about this but he needs to demonstrate that he has this figured out.  He says that he is a starter, he needs to prove it.  Prove he can get out of the first inning.  I think he will, the "stuff" seems to be there.  He needs to understand that the result for him have not been acceptable.  This is on him.  It is more than just a bad season.
