Amari, definitely has better passing instincts than Neemi.  Neemi is a lot more athletic though.

Amari can dribble also.  He is actually a very smooth ball handler.  I think Amari has plenty of athleticism.  He has the ugliest shot I have ever seen though.  And he seems to get lost out there often, not really staying in the flow of the game.  If he figures out that last part, I think he will be better than Queta.  He may not though, it is really hard to project that kind of thing.

It does seem like Amari isn?t the most athletic guy most of the time. But it could also just be that he doesn?t have nearly the same motor that Queta has. Of course he needs to work on his shot, but he also needs to just become a lot more active if he is going to succeed. He definitely is skilled

Is Q this teams version of Perk? Kendrick was a better defender, but Queta is more talented. Still improving, too. Both great fits.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Perk is so over rated.   He was an average center who could defend.   He is a below average commentator.  One dimensional player.

I do think Perks defense was inflated by having KG on the same front court as him.  I would take  Queta over him in a heart beat.  Imagine Queta next to KG...

I think Amari has plenty of athleticism

I had read somewhere that his vertical was around 26" and many scouting reports report average to lack of vertical pop.  That is Grant Williams level of vertical leap, which is better than your average Jo,e but below the NBA average of 28" .  He does have a 9'3" vertical reach at  and   7?6" wing span is solid which help to compensate that lack of vertical pop.    He is mobile for such a big guy, and has great passing instincts. This comes from largely playing soccer growing up.

I see him replacing Garza when Luke's contract is up.

He was probably the sixth best player in Euro basket last summer, a list featured multiple all stars and future Hall of Famer?s, while putting up stats and leading Portugal to some improbable victories.

The question was would he be able to bring that to the NBA and the answer is a resounding yes. Queta has been around a top 12 Center this year, while contributing to winning basketball. Durable, consistent performance with plenty of highlights along the way.

Cheers to Queta. He?s earned everything he?s got.

Unfortunately, a healthy Perk in that 2010 Finals the Celtics would have won in Game 6 or 7. His presence was missing in stopping the triple tower threat of Gasol, Bynum, and Odom. Grrr.

agreed.  A healthy Perk gives us a solid rebounder defender at least for game 7 that was really good at boxing out and could have given KG and Sheed much needed rest that game to get us to a win and title.

Queta just keeps improving.  It is really remarkable.  Where he was at the start of the season as compared to the end of last season was a big leap.  That was apparently due to the opportunity to play in the Euro Tournament over the summer.  But he has continued to improve though the season.  He is better now than he was at the start of the season.

I am surprised to see this much improvement at his age (26), but he is doing it and may keep improving, proving me even more wrong about his ceiling.  He deserves tons of credit.  He is a big part of this team now and is not showing any sign of slowing down.

Another thing about Queta is that he is only playing 25 minutes per game.  10 pts and 8+ rebounds in that time is something.

He never rebounded more than 8.1 per game for us as a center and most years were under 8.  He was an average rebounder for us for a guy his size.
