So who are we protecting from the expansion draft?

Tatum, Brown, Queta, Hugo, White, Baylor, PP feel like the obvious 7, with 1 more spot. Some of this also depends on restricted FA status and expiring contracts, but I'm sure teams will work around that going forward.

You are getting way ahead of yourself.  Pritchard, for instance, will be a free agent heading into 2028, and we might have trouble offering him a market-value extension because his current deal is such a bargain.  Scheierman, meanwhile, will be a restricted free agent.

It is still something we have to think about and a fun exercise.

I would see about trading PP to his home town.   It would help us and make him happy and help Seattle.  He is worth a first but I realize his contract might be up as you say.

I think the league will vote yes.

Tatum
Brown
Neemias
White
Baylor
Hugo
Pritchard, I think will want to test the market and he deserves it.   I think as was said, he will be out of price range and a guy not named here will be taking this slot.

Pritchard is from the Portland area, not Seattle.  Northwest, of course, but his hometown already has a team.

Also, it doesn?t seem like good business to trade arguably the most team friendly contract in the league.

Well, Pritchard will be finished with his current deal by the time Seattle exists.  We will either have signed him to another extension that is much closer to market value (not sure what his market value will be but new deal would be likely above MLE, as opposed to now) or he will be a free agent anyway.  So it is less of a bad business decision.

Thought he was still under contract. Makes sense.

Does Philadelphia need the Warriors history back?

Should the Kings give back to Rochester, Cincinnati, Kansas City, and Omaha all if their history?

Should the Clippers give back to Buffalo and San Diego their history?

Is it just the NBA or do all sports need to do this?

I think that argument is strange. The franchise is the franchise. Just like players move around so do franchises.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Does the NBA really need two more teams to tank?

Definitely a concern.  I was listening to the Mismatch and Chris Vernon sounded pretty confident they are going to come up with a plan that incentivizes winning.  He mentioned something similar to what they have in the PWHL.  After a team is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, the more wins they get, the higher their draft seed (or odds). Now this raises the question of whether a team would tank earlier in an attempt to game the system and give themselves the most chances to get wins. On another note, what do people think the nickname will be for the Vegas team?  It's known as the Silver City, so maybe the Vegas Silver(s).  The commissioner would probably like it.
