I'm doing a bit of research on Vucevic's next contract.

I'm looking for an older player that is still highly productive, good offensively, and average defensively. There really just aren't a lot of players that fit that bill. Many start getting injuries, but Vooch has stayed healthy. Many have their production fall off a cliff. Maybe Vooch hasn't because he has played for the Bulls, but he has still produced.

I think Brook Lopez's contract is one possibility, as his defense has gone downhill. 2 years, 18ish million with a team option

If we resign him to roughly 10 a year with the new cap, im all for this. The passing and rebounding at his position alone is worth that.

So, Al was wrapping up a roughly 27M per year contract at Vuc's age.  I think Vuc is just as productive as Al, but not for 27M per.  I think someone is going to hit in the 18M per mark for him.

Those were two very different contracts. Horford signed that roughly 27m a year contract for 4 years with the Sixers at 33. They expected front-loaded production.

Horford also was signed for his defense and ability to fit in as a solid role player.

At 37 he signed a 2 year contract with the Cs for about 10m a year.

Vooch is going into his age 36 season having never played for a real winning basketball team. The record for his teams is 426 wins and 594 losses.

He is, at best, an average defensive center.

I think it's reasonable to that he would sign a two year contract for less than 10m a year for his age 36 and 37 seasons. There is no way he would get more than the MLE. If he wants to sign another big contract with a losing team again, he can, but if he is ready to contribute to winning basketball, he will need to sign for less.

That is, if we even want to sign him.

I'm hoping for something in that $10 million range, too.  Last summer was a bit of an anomaly due to teams not having any cap space, but notably DeAndre Ayton signed for two years, $16 million with a player option.  Of course, Kornet got $10 million per season, but he's younger.  I don't think teams will exceed the full MLE.

I really can't see Vuc getting more then 10-12m as a 25mpg bench player.  He's getting to the point where his production is going to continue to significantly drop.

Could you see Atlanta making a run at Vucevic in the summer to replace Porzingis?

G: NAW
G: Dyson Daniels
F: Risacher
F: Jalen Johnson
C: Vucevic, Okongwu

Vucevic would be a nice fit on that team. Hawks have cap space.

Hard to see any of the other teams with cap space next year being interested in Vucevic. Some have quality centers (DET, SAS). Some are too young and in early rebuilding process (UTA, WAS, BKN) . Lakers are a maybe if LeBron leaves but Vucevic is not the type of center Doncic wants so probably not. Outside of Atlanta ... I agree, it looks like MLE type offers will be the market for Vucevic.

Could Charlotte take a run at Vuce?

G: LaMelo
G: Knueppel
F: Brandon Miller
F: Miles Bridges
C: Vucevic, Kalkbrenner

Vucevic could fit well in that team. Complete the starting unit. Make them a legit playoff team (if LaMelo can stay healthy).

Maybe 2 wild cards - Atlanta and Charlotte. Outside of those 2 wild cards, hard to see a market for Vuce that goes beyond the MLE.

The Clippers trading away Harden makes me wonder, is Zubac now available too? Maybe they alter the deal to reroute Vucevic, picks and maybe a Chicago guard or young player to the Clippers and the C's get Zubac. C's offer up additional picks too. Something along those lines.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I kinda hate seeing Simons go. The guy was a great offensive punch off the bench and seemed to be putting effort into his defense, as well as buying in to the Celtics team.

I'm very happy to get a center ............ very happy.
Problem is the guy is 35 years old. How much of a factor is going to be over the next 5 years, which I see as the title window for this Tatum/Brown era.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

C's will have moved on to a new rotation-quality center in the next couple of years.  maybe even as soon as next year with the shiny new Simons TPE

If Vucevic can be reassigned to a reasonable number and then retire in Boston that?s an excellent player to have in your championship rotation. Steady hand veteran shot making that opens up driving lanes with floor spacing, seals possessions with solid defensive rebounding, and kills runs before they get out of hand.

If we can keep that at a reasonable contract, sign me up.

nothing against resigning him for reasonable money for a couple of years but I suspect Brad will be lining up his replacement using that new TPE.

He can be the new Al Horford if he proves to be a good fit for the team.

Somebody mentioned it to me last time as well, but it makes no sense to move Zubac when they were/are on a roll.

Tho that would be sweet if we can land Zubac lol
