This is a 35 year old bum center who?s washed up and plays 0 defense, a player bulls fans couldn?t get rid of sooner and on top of it it was money saving move?.and you people are happy?

Eh.  We gave up a couple more months of Simons and a second rounder for a guy who should fit very well into our offense.

Fair point?I would?ve preferred just riding this season out as is, a money saving move for a washed up center who doesn?t play defense doesn?t move my needle

Does Vuc have enough left to be the second option most nights?  I'd ideally like to shift some of the offensive burden off of White.  May be too much to ask of a 35-year-old center.

Best wishes to Simons.  Hope he finds a long-term role somewhere.

I don't think he can be a 2nd option for a good team on most nights. However, I don't think he was acquired to be that.

If Tatum comes back they have a lineup of pretty elite shooting and rebounding (we'll see about defense):

Pritchard
White
Brown
Tatum
Vucevic

But unless Tatum is super human hes not going to make a substantial difference this season.
I think vucevic makes us worse as is and simply doesn?t fit the culture unless he?s somehow revitalized and starts playing defense at 35

Wasn't the same things said about Simons not fitting into the culture unless he started playing defense before he got here?

You don't know what Tatum is going to do one way or the other if he returns. He could be a difference maker. That is why they play the games.

I remember when the Cs traded for D White and there were a lot of these types of comments. Same with KP.

Let it play out and see what happens. The fact we are even talking about the the Cs and the playoffs with the possibilty of JT coming back after this past offseason is a bonus.

Alright, somebody give us the breakdown on him. Is this the piece for Tatums return? Or a stop gap to continue Simons asset?

For those wringing their hands about a loss of production, keep in mind that Vucevic outscores Simons (overall and on a per-minute / per-possession basis), and has a higher eFG% / TS% with more assists (and of course, way more rebounds).  He also turns the ball over slightly less.

https://www.sports-reference.com/stathead/basketball/versus-finder.cgi?request=1&seasons_type=forall&year_min=2026&year_max=2026&player_id1=simonan01&player_id2=vucevni01

Neither plays much defense, but in terms of offensive production, Boston got the better player.

He might not play D but he's also not as washed up as some people on here seem to think.

Nikola Vucevic, who is 35 years old, has averaged 16.9 points, 9 points, and 3.8 assists per game this season. He?s shot 50.5% from the field and 37.6% from three.

?have you watched him though?

Good lord is he uninspiring and I?d be celebrating just getting him off my roster if I was a bulls fan.
Simon?s isn?t great either but thought he was an integral part of this years specific team?I want nothing to do with vucevic being the anchor of our defense, rather have a back up guard who gets hot from time to time and steals you games

Yes.  I live in Chicago and catch a fair share of their games.  Do you want to try again?

That?s all fair, maybe I just grew to actually like Simon?s and felt he was a cool part of this years group and wanted to ride it out and I?ve never, not once been impressed with vucevics empty stats on every mediocre team he?s ever been on and want nothing to do with his defense at the center position

You can with a straight face tell me you watch the majority of his games and leave those games impressed with this player? I don?t care about his empty stats on middling teams with no chemistry

One of the things I couldn't stand watching Vucevic is how often he would slow the Bulls offense down by playing in the post, and he wasn't especially effective there (29% percentile of all players this year).

If he is content with the 1-2 postups we gave Horford a game, and then primarily facilitating out of the high post, then he could be a helpful player for us.

I agree with others though. This is primarily motivated by getting us out of the 1st apron and resetting those penalties. But the second benefit is adding a different type of big to our rotation.

I liked Simons also and would have loved to have kept him next season. But this was always going to be the end game for him and Boston.

Perfect fit. Tells me Tatum will be back to absorb some of the lost scoring with Simons.

Would like to see Boston make one more move to cut the fat and add a scorer off the bench. Trade or buyout.

Tillman, Boucher and/or Minott can all go

My immediate thought exactly. I don?t think Brad makes this trade if JT isn?t returning.

I'm saying he's not washed up.  The Bulls aren't going anywhere but they're still a playin team hovering around .500.  He can contribute offensively and gives them some much needed front court depth down the stretch here.  He won't do much, if any, to help defensively but he's still going to contribute on the boards and scoring.  Not to mention the cap implications.
