Celtics: Clingan

Trail Blazers: Queta, Hauser, 2026 Celtics 1st round pick

After the trade, the Celtics would be out of the luxury tax. Donovan Clingan has more upside than Queta and can spread the floor better.

For Portland, Hauser gives them much needed elite off the ball shooting, and he is locked in long term to a very reasonable salary. Queta is on a much cheaper contract than Clingan, which will help when their other star players get more expensive. The Celtics pick gives the Trail Blazers another shot at a young talent in a deep draft.

I like this trade for the Celts - love Clingans upside.

However, I think POR would say no. I think they view Clingan as too important to their defensive identity moving forward. Perhaps they would consider him more disposable it if they hit on the Yang Hansen pick, but that does not appear to be the case as of right now.

the idea is to add to Q, not trade him.  this trade still leaves us thin at center so it does nothing to solve that problem.  this also trades away a top shooter on the team as well as cost a future draft pick which the C's do not have extras to throw into trades for the hell of it.
