Red Sox signed a Brazilian prospect pitcher! As a Brazilian, that is pretty cool to see. Apparently he is from Brazil as well, which is different from somebody that comes to the States. Random fact about Brazil and baseball: the sport actually came from the Japanese since Brazil has the largest population of Japanese descendants outside of Japan. If you look at the Brazilian roster, half the players have Japanese last names.

Between this, Wagner Moura getting awards as an actor for his movie (actor best known as Pablo Escobar in Narcos), good things are happening in Brazil in 2026. Maybe this will bode well for this year's World Cup.

Unreal.  The Dodgers have no limit.

Literally. They'll probably win the WS this year?they certainly should, based on talent alone?but there's likely to be no MLB in 2027, and what happens then is anybody's guess.

But, yeah, for now, it's like, "Oh look, the Dodgers got another all-star." ::)

And they're paying $60 million per season for a guy that is very good, but that hasn't been an MVP candidate.

Good point. But they're printing their own money, I guess.

Mark Walter effect. The guy can just give out contracts like it's nothing and MLB can't anything about it right now.

Just hope that generosity doesn't translate too much over into the professional basketball league as he does own that franchise in that league.

I think that MLB vs. NBA is a good example of why salary caps and max duration contracts make sense.  MLB is going to get there eventually, particularly when even ultra-rich owners like John Henry are self-imposing spending limits.
