Oviedo has a lot of ability, but he also seems to be injury prone.  I was hoping that we'd get more of a proven commodity in trading The Password.

I mean... cool? I agree Oviedo has legit potential when healthy but that's kind of the issue. Not a needle mover. Extra pitching depth but they need more. Someone like a Freddy Peralta or Joe Ryan.

I don?t think Henry will allow them to make a big splash with the lockout looming. This is probably it for the rotation: Crochet, Bello, Gray, Oviedo, and Crawford.

Yeah, I think Crawford/Sandoval/Dobbins -- whoever is healthiest. And then Tolle and Early in AAA to start the year. Wild card of Harrison.

Lots of "back of rotation arms" now that could get traded for a bat.

Slugger Kyle Schwarber and the Philadelphia Phillies are finalizing a five-year, $150 million contract, sources told ESPN on Tuesday, reuniting the National League home run leader and the franchise with whom he blossomed into a perennial MVP candidate.

Kyle Schwarber is 32, will be 33 by start of 2026 season and 38 at the end of the deal.

My question, is his defense better or worse than Pete Alonso's?  Alonso is only a year younger.  I am not sure the Sox will want to pay big money for aging, no-defense, sluggers, much to many fans' chagrin.

Does Schwarber even play the field much anymore? Alonso can at least play some 1B and frankly I think the combination of him and Casas at 1B/DH is a neat concept. Alonso would fit better here even if it's just for the next 3-4 years. Sorry but while guys like Refsnyder, Sogard, Eaton, etc. offer some good depth, this lineup needs real pop especially after Devers. Alonso can offer that too. Now if they also miss out on Alonso I'll be ticked. I never thought Schwarber was realistic though.
