Wary of Simons.  Maxey matched up with him for a few possessions, got to feeling himself, and now he's scorching no matter who guards him.

Simons is a firestarter for the other team.  It's difficult to hide guys like that.  If you're IT at the other end then it's worthwhile, but Simons ain't that.  I'll be patient as he gets used to his new teammates but early impression isn't a good one.

Cs defense is putrid.

Rebounding is going to be a problem this year.

Baylor not even getting one minute.

Simons is going to have to be better. He is terrible on defense needs to produce more on offense.

That was some ugly shooting.  Overall, though, the guys are competing.

I don't know if we can blame Simons for the baskets scored against other players.  But, without any interior defense, I think we'll see a lot of guards scorching us this year.

Brown played really well. Had 4 assist but should have had about 8 if anybody could hit a shot.

The shooters are missing everything right now. Simons, Pritchard, White are 2-15 from three. Not going to win if that continues.

Queta looked great, Tillman looked good, not sure we need Garza out there just roll with those two.

No Baylor/Walsh/Hugo siting.

The problem there is that Queta and Tillman both got in foul trouble.  I agree that they looked significantly more useful in their minutes but they're also going to have to be disciplined and cut the fouls down.

the concern I had been mentioning in other threads debating how the team will do this year was very much this point - the interior defense as well as the rebounding.

Simons' D is as bad as advertised and to be honest, even worse than I expected

Yeah.  I'm not literally saying "every point Maxey scored in the second quarter is Simons' fault, actually" but I also think there's an element of confidence to basketball that goes a bit underdiscussed.  Simons is a walking ego boost for the other guy and I do legitimately believe that impacts more than just his own possessions.  Admittedly that's pretty unquantifiable.

Nice start.

Only shooting 22% from 3 on high volume, and only down 6 to start the quarter.

on the plus side so far, JB looks good and Q and Tillman have looked pretty decent out there tonight with the exception of the foul trouble.

Can't fault the shot quality.  Just gotta knock them down.
