I know it was garbage time but that was embarrassing. I?ve never seen worse basketball. Schierman should be ashamed of himself.

Glad I won't see several of those dudes wear green anymore after this next week.  Also glad this one doesn't count, lol.
Actually, the two-way and exhibit 10 players were not so bad. It was Baylor and Queta who really disappointed.

that was a brutal meltdown.

Boucher and Minott were terrific.  Garza and Simons had their moments but Garza has to do a better job rebounding and Simons needs to play better D.  everyone besides PP needs to make some serious improvements.

Nah they all sucked IMO.  They had no clue what to do against a press or a trap and they guarded nothing at the other end.  Took all of them to blow that game.

But Scheierman and Queta at least get some benefit of the doubt in the fact that they've actually impacted real NBA games before.  Scheierman, in particular, self-destructed in a role he'll likely never be asked to play.  The others exhausted goodwill they didn't have in the first place.

I think they are hoping that Scheirman can play that role this season. He played it in Las Vegas and he's played it during the first two pre season games. So far the experiment is a failure.

Yeah, if they legitimately hope that he can be something like a backup PG for them then I share your concern about depth at that position.  White, Brown, Pritchard, Simons is a very good guard unit.  If any of them miss time, there is absolutely nothing playable behind them.  Not even a decent G league project like Davison.  Just an empty void.

Personally I view Scheierman more as a depth piece behind Hauser and Minott than I do the guard rotation, but I do concede that's not really consistent with what he's trying to do in the preseason so far.

The good:

Minot was impressive, on both ends. Simons didn?t look as bad defensively as I thought he would. He?s a pure scorer. Like a poor man?s Damian Lillard. Queta looked pretty good. It was nice having a paint presence. Pritchard looked like Pritchard and Boucher had a solid game.

The Bad:

Toronto played zero starters and won. Scheierman was 2-9 from the field, had 5 TO?s and fouled out. He?s not an NBA player.

Luka Garza is not very good. He gets bullied underneath on both ends. Hugo needs to spend the season in Maine. He?s very raw.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Hauser started at SG last game. I think he?s better suited to play the 2 than the 4. This is how I see the rotation:

PG: White, Pritchard, Simons
SG: Brown, Simons, Hauser
SF: Hauser, Brown, Minott
PF: Boucher, Tillman, Minott
C: Queta, Garza, Tillman

Queta is just not a disciplined basketball player.
I am surprised how bad he looks tonight, turnovers, fouls, illegal screens

Queta is our Jaxson Hayes / Nick Richards.

A below average backup center / quality 3rd stringer masquerading as a starter. All 3 of them.

Forget the last 6 minutes. I'm starting to think Brad may have to go make a deal to get another NBA caliber ball handler on the roster. If PP or White goes down, they're screwed. Jaylen can play there at times, but he's got his own ball handling issues. Can Simons play there? I don't see any other candidates on the current squad.

Delon Wright got waived the other day. Big PG. Combo guard. Defensive guard. I like his fit on this squad.

In my mind, these first two preseason games have not revealed anything new or anything that has changed my view of the team or the players.  Here is how I view the roster in tiers or slots by general positions:

PG/Combo:  White, Simons, Pritchard, Gonzalez, (Luis)
Wing:          Brown, Hauser, Minott, Walsh, Scheierman
Big:             Queta, Garza, Boucher, Tillman, (Williams)

I included a couple of 2-way guys to round it out.  I expect that there will be 2-way guys "called up" pretty much every game since our roster is short.

I am still not sure on a few.  Now sure about Hugo Gonzalez or Scheierman, but I plugged them in where I think they belong.  Also still not sure on Minott.  He seems to be kind of a "tweener" or swing, not quite a wing, not quite a big, but I plugged him in as a wing.

This is a thin year, we all know that.  BOS should be fine at guard.  We have starting level players and some depth.  Not horrible at wing either.  Only 1 clear starter and some depth, but not horrible for this season.  And then there are the bigs.

Pritchard was driving me crazy with his dribbling.....very Tatum like....but I love him as a player
Garza is effective but I question his hands
Minott and Boucher are fun to watch
