It was just announced. I didn't know that he was battling cancer. He was a solid ballplayer and a worthy member of the Sox Hall of Fame.

RIP.  He was one of my favorite players growing up.

Yeah, mentioned it in the Sox thread but same.  He & Burks were the "outfield of the future" to take us into the 90s.  I had the Gator County poster hanging up in my childhood bedroom along with the Clemens "Rocket Man".  Greenwell was a personality and played the game hard.  Had a great stretch there in the late 80s.  Especially '88.
