Wemby 7-19 FGA 1-6 3PT 4-5 FTA 19pts.

Castle 1-10 FGA 0-3 3PT 4-6 FTA 6pts
D Fox 3-15 FGA 1-8 3PT 0 FTAs 7pts

Combined those 3 were 2-17 on three pointers.

Brunson 45 points.

NY only had 94 points. Brunson had half of their points.

I?m glad for him. He is an unbelievable player. Might be the best 6 foot guard of all time.

Don?t like the rest of their team, though. Also, hate the NY fans.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Thing is Oz, those guys shouldn?t have been taking that many shots. They have guys on the team that can actually put the ball in the basket. This is on the coach.

2 games lost because SA choked at the ft line.

All time choke job in a series.

Sure. Knicks were simply just the better team and a team of destiny?sucks but no one was beating them

I wasn't trying to take anything away from NY. They earned it.
However that doesn't mean SA choking at the FT line didn't happen.

A remarkable championship by a heavy underdog.

You know what is funny/not funny. The Spurs were able to figure out how to deal with SGA. They doubled him relentlessly and were physical. So why not use that same strategy against Jalen Brunson. The guy absolutely torched you all series and you did nothing to slow him down. Unbelievably bad coaching.

At least we know the Spurs are bigger chokers than the Celtics. Can?t believe how easily the Spurs let game after game in the series fall apart.

Well deserved championship. Those Knicks fought hard for those wins. They were down a lot and down big for many games but they have enough comebacks under their belts to prove that those wins weren?t flukes. Meanwhile, Spurs inexperience showed and I?m pretty Wemby will be back (and unfortunately, better) in the Finals again.

Yeah 2024 and 2025 healthy Celtics playoffs teams would've stomped this Spurs team in the Finals. What an embarrassment...beating Portland, beating the coveted Wolves, and then beating the hated OKC SGA just to lose to the Knicks.

Trophy goes back to the East

Spurs blowing big leads was unreal. A healthy OKC team would had beaten New York easily.
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Yep. Spurs shot their shot vs OKC.

OKC would have beaten the knicks. Would like to have thought the Cs would have pushed the Knicks in round 2 with a healthy JT. But the coaching by Joe to have nothing else to go to but volume 3s, literally no impact from the center position and the dreadful play by JB would have sunk Boston.

Still blows my mind Dallas traded Luka & let Brunson walk.. but to be fair Luka and Brunson need the ball in their hands at all times.

Interesting list of teams with most titles

BOS - 18 titles
LAL - 17 titles (5 in Minneapolis)

CHI - 6 titles - all MJ
GSW - 6 titles - 4 with Steph, 1 with R Barry in 75, 1 in 56 with Arizin and Neil Johnston as Philadelphia Warriors before they moved the franchise. I am never sure whether those should count for the city of Philadelphia or for the Warriors franchise that moved. I prefer them to be part of the city rather than the franchise. Anyway ...

SAS - 5 titles - all with Duncan

MIA - 3 titles - 2 with LeBron, 1 with Shaq / D Wade
NYK - 3 titles - 2 in 70s plus this year
DET - 3 titles - 2 with the bad boys, 1 in 2004
PHI - 3 titles - 1983 team with Doc & Moses, 1967 team with Wilt, 1955 team in Syracuse with Dolph Schayes

So we got BOS and LAL way out in front. Then 3 teams closely together in CHI, GSW, SAS. Then a four way tie in 6th place.

Well done NYK on moving up to that 2nd tier. Or 3rd tier if you want to split them up even more.

-------------------

Who else has titles?

HOU - 2 - Olajuwon's titles
MIL - 2 - one with Kareem / Oscar, one with Giannis
OKC - 2 - one last year, one in Seattle in 1979

So 3 more teams with multiple titles. That takes us up to 12 teams with multiple titles.

ATL - 1 - none in ATL but one in St Louis, Bob Pettit
CLE - 1 - LeBron
DAL - 1 - Dirk in 2011
DEN - 1 - Jokic's team
POR - 1 - Bill Walton
SAC - 1 - SAC, Kansas, Cincinnati, Rochester. 4 cities ago. 1951. Oh, that was the team with Bob Davies - the precursor to Bob Cousy.
TOR - 1 - Kawhi
WAS - 1 - 1978 team

8 teams with a single title. That is 20 teams with a Championship.

----------------------

0 titles - BKN, CHA, IND, LAC, MEM, MIN, NOP, ORL, PHO, UTA - 10 teams

They blew leads of 14, 12, 29 and 16 in their four losses.

No team in NBA history has ever had a double digit lead in every game of the series that went on to lose the NBA Finals until now

I don't know if that is accurate or not but I presume it is.

This post below illustrates just how badly SAS choked

Spurs had 92.3% win odds in Game 1 up 13 in the 3rd.

Spurs had 83.6% win odds in Game 2 up 12 in the 2nd.

Spurs had 99.6% win odds in Game 4 up 20 in the 4th.

Spurs had 97.1% win odds in Game 5 up 14 in the 3rd.

They lost them all.

Those Gm 4 and Gm 5 losses were unfathomable.

At what point do you just give credit to the Knicks for being a great second half team that excels playing from behind? If you keep making big comebacks against teams, maybe it's something you're doing right rather than the other teams always choking.
I'm bitter.
