Cleveland look like their window has closed.
I can't get over how slow they have looked in this series. Harden isn't the answer. He is doing some good things for them but also doing a bunch of bad things.
I'd be open to trading Harden for a role player wing who can defend & shoot. Just get away from him. Get some more athleticism into the team.
This team's near term future is all about whether Mobley can take the next step and become a legitimate go-to guy or not. If he can't. If he continues to stagnate, I think this team is done.
I think this series is as good as it gets for CLE. A ECF appearance. I think it only gets worse from here. East will be a lot tougher next year with BOS and IND back in business. Harden is only going to get worse.
How is Boston back in business ? If they bring back the same roster as is, they are losing to the Knicks in the exactly same way Cleveland is. So I?m assuming you?re assuming the Celtics are make some pretty significant changes. Correct ?
Nope. They are going to be much better next season without any changes. A full season with Tatum back to full health. Gained experience for Queta. Gained experience for the young wings. And the backup center spot should be better as well. Either by (a) keeping Vucevic and getting him more comfortable in his role, or, (b) replacing Vooch with a superior defender/rebounder worse offensive player.
I doubt it. They couldn't even put the 76ers away with a 3-1 series lead to save their lives.
Their usual blow big leads or choke at home will remain. Derrick White is getting worse each year which doesn't help. Hauser is a ghost. The Celtics can compete in the East again if they do big time pickups or moves similar to getting Jrue and Porzingis.
Of these takes I think the more logical one is from Who. I?d give a better than likely chance that Q, Baylor, Walsh, Hugo and Tatum are better next year, and better than likely that DWhite is the same. Green glasses tell me DW will shoot better but I won?t count on that. The East though will be better so idk if the Cs win as much, but talent-wise, they should be a notch higher.
All may be true, but the Celtics will not be as good as they were in 2025 when they lost in the 2nd round. The team is not good enough without making major moves.
