for all the screaming here of the J's TOs, Castle looks like he's determined to set the record for TO's not just in a playoff series but for an entire playoffs in just this one series.

Has to be trade fodder this offseason

Spurs wouldn't have even been in this game if it wasn't for Castle carrying them in the 1st half.

Spurs need to hope it's nothing serious for Harper. Fox already missed the first two games and who knows if he's 100%. But still, this has already been an amazing start to the series. Good battle, and honestly it's nice seeing two teams not relying on the 3 and just playing inside and using strategy + mismatches.

I feel 7 games.

I didn't watch the series between Detroit and Cleveland, but I was looking at the box scores.  Cade averaged > 5 TOs per game for the series, and in fact throughout this year's playoffs.  That's far higher than any other player (5.6 per game, next is Harden at 4.9.  JB was at 3.6).   Imagine if Cade played for the C's.  Some posters here would be demanding trading him this offseason.

It's hard to take care of the ball in the playoffs, especially when the defense is designed specifically against you.

A guy who 2 years ago was a freshman in the NCAA was averaging 11.1ppg and 2.9apg. Now, 2 years later, is a leading player (arguably the 2nd best player) on a 62 win Spurs averaging 16.7ppg 7.4apg 5.3rpg while being one of the best defensive guards in the NBA.

His improvement in such a short period of time is extraordinary.

No way is Castle trade fodder. He is one of the most talented young players in the league. Castle, Wemby and D Harper a potential dynasty.

Why in the world did Philly trade Jared McCain?

That guy is a baller.

He would have been a great weapon off of Philly's bench as a shooter scoring guard.

They need to let Harper be the primary ball handler with Fox out. Castle is not a point guard.

OKC may have figured out Wemby and the Spurs...just put Hartenstein on Wemby.

Did Castle play the whole 2nd half?

Castle and D Harper started the 2nd half. They were in together. Harper gets hurt at the 5min mark Q3. Castle still in. Oh no, I am wrong. Castle comes out at the 3min mark Q3. Starts Q4. Plays all Q4.

-------------

The Spurs bench felt weak after D Harper got hurt. Already without D Fox. So without 2 of your top 4 players (for me anyway). The Spurs still had a strong 5 with Castle, Vassell, Champagnie, Keldon Johnson, Wemby. Kornet is okay. But the rest ...

J McLaughlin is not a guy you want to be playing in the WCF. Carter Bryant was awesome on D but he is a one-way player. He can't shoot. Did not take a shot in 10min. 2 turnovers. At least 1 if not both turnovers were panic turnovers. Harrison Barnes is not the player he used to be. He hit 1 big three pointer. Aside from that, he was largely invisible out there.

All those Spurs starters were ran into the ground in the 2nd half. 21min for Castle. 22min for Wemby. 20min for Champagnie. 19 and a half minutes for Vassell. The Spurs coach did not trust his bench (because they were short-handed). D Harper played 7min and Keldon Johnson 14min. That is another 21min between them. So 5 guys played 19.5min to 22min each in the 2nd half for San Antonio.

They had nobody else they could turn to. Not when they were already down 2 key players in D Fox and D Harper. No quality left on the bench. Kornet only got 2min in the 2nd half because Wemby got 22min (after 15min 1st half). So the perimeter bench guys were McLaughlin, C Bryant, H Barnes. Couldn't trust any of them.

That is a lot of minutes after the 2OT game in Gm 1. Spurs guys need some relief. They need D Fox back. They need D Harper back.

In the fourth qtr, NYK was 5-7 from 3.  CLE was 3-9, it is not like they took way more 3PA in the 4th when they blew the lead.  They were 2-8 on 2PAs in the fourth.  CLE was also 5-9 free throws in the 4th so they missed 4 free throws.  Make 1 more 3 or 1 more FT or any shot, and CLE wins the game.  But instead they went 5-17 overall and missed 4 FTs.

I don't see this as being as simple as they should have taken a time out or they shot too many 3s.  This appear to me to be more of just an old fashioned all around choke.

they also got a 1st, which is 22, and 3 future 2nd's.  Plus, McCain was not playing very well.  In OKC he figured out how to shoot again.  With Maxey and Edgecomb he was always going to be a bench player, so they she'd his salary, got the 22nd pick, and 3 future 2nd's.  Not a nad deal for a bench guy.  OKC has so many future picks still, they can spend a 1st kn a bench guy.
