OKC have an embarrassment of riches. Still getting potentially good draft picks from trades of years gone by. Got the MVP from one of those trades. Most teams have to fill out their roster with journeymen, OKC has theirs filled out with excess first round picks.

Then having Ajay Mitchell, a 23 year old 2nd round draft pick on a 3 year/$9M deal through 2028 emerging as a star... Hard not to be envious. What they've built is pretty amazing.

How good is Ajay Mitchell?  Did he just come out of nowhere recently?

Chris Mannix: I wrote this week about the Atlanta Hawks. Jaylen is a Georgia native. Last offseason, the Celtics and Hawks did have a brief conversation about Jaylen Brown. It didn?t really go anywhere. The Hawks were leery about the size of Brown?s contract, which at the time was, I believe, the richest contract in NBA history. And they weren?t really in a position to go all in. The Celtics were not looking to give Jaylen Brown away, either. So, it didn?t go anywhere. But that?s a team, given what happened this season, that I could see getting interested in Jaylen Brown. Again, the Miamis, the Houstons, Golden State teams that are theoretically going to be in the mix for Giannis Antetokounmpo could turn around and make a run at Jaylen Brown. So, I think that situation bears watching.

I knew next to nothing about him before this year too but just started taking notice during the season. Decent shooter, very good at getting to the rim. Can handle the ball a bit. Great defender. Seems humble and hard working. Probably a tad early to say he's definitely going to be a star but he's on the right trajectory.

Don't think it's a coincidence that the Thunder's slump during the regular season came mostly when he missed a few weeks with an abdominal injury. His contract would have to be the best in the NBA.

Wizards won the lottery. So, AJ Dybansta to DC. Jazz got the 2nd pick, id imagine they go with Peterson.

I was impressed with him last season. He reminded me so much of D White. A big physical combo guard. Terrific defender. Stable offensive player who had good control of the ball and made good decisions. Good driver. Just needed to upgrade his outside shooting to be a top 15 PG in the future.

Then this season OKC was without J-Dub. Ajay got to play more. He showed far more shot creation than I expected (20ppg capacity rather than the 13-15ppg I had him pegged as). Proved himself to be a quality scorer. He was already a terrific defender. So now he is showing more star potential and he has been showing that consistently throughout the season. Especially when J-Dub is out because Ajay is their next best creator on the perimeter after SGA.

So I've gone from D White potential to All-Star potential with his outside shooting being his lone weak area. The rest of his game is money.

If they pass on Acuff because they traded for Garland that will haunt them. And it would be so Clippers for Acuff to be great and their pick be a bust.

Their trade with the Clippers has nothing to do with the tanking. They lost enough games to get a good draft pick. And since the lottery is changing it was sound.

Lol - This was exactly my thought. The basketball gods did not appreciate the disrespect to the game.

They basically wasted a year to trade out Turner for Zubac.
