It doesn't seem to me that CLE is better for this.  They are saving money with Saric being peeled off and going to CHI.  SAC is pretty much cap neutral with this trade with being able to send out Saric.

I think this is a case of another team being fooled into thinking that Hunter can be an actual good player.  He was never quite that in ATL or CLE.

The Atlanta Hawks are trading guard Vit Krejci to the Portland Trail Blazers for Duop Reath and two future second-round picks, sources told ESPN on Sunday.

I'm surprised that Atlanta wanted to trade him.  He's a productive player on a great contract.

I agree. I'm guessing they are working on a big trade and needed the draft capital or cap flexibility or something.

I am not sure Krejci is that good.

I haven't seen as much of him this season but last year he was a liability as a backup guard. More of a 3rd stringer. A dodgy defender. A limited ball-handler and passer who wants to play as a lead guard. It looks like is shooting the ball better this year -- added volume -- which is good because he was capable but reluctant shooter in the past.

Getting Reath might signal KP being traded?

Not sure if Nic Claxton's name was mentioned earlier this week but there's speculations that Celtics have spoken to the Nets about him according to Jake Fischer's stream on what he heard earlier this week

I'd rather just get Day'Ron Sharpe from them, between Queta and Garza

Idk about Claxton. I assume its Simons for Claxton. I think Nets get the better player. We bolster a position if need (less need than originally thought).  I don?t like having a bad FT shooter on the court.  OK but nothing special on the boards. If Tatum isn?t returning I definitely don?t want this trade unless it came with some draft capital.

I'm perfectly fine giving up the 2026 Pelicans 2nd round pick and just a salary piece like Tillman to get Sharpe personally. Keep Simons. And I still think Tatum will come back. That's a more complete team with a beefier frontcourt (is that a word lol?)

I?m also in the ?keep Simons? camp. I don?t know what?s going on in Brad?s head but the lack of constant rumors makes me nervous. We do have 4 very similar players in Hugo, Baylor, Walsh, and Minott. If we were to make a minor trade for a low cost big, I think one or two of those guys together with Boucher and Tillman are prime candidates to be moved. A few more days and we?ll know.

I look at last year?s No. 1 overall pick in Cooper Flagg,? Mashburn said. ?If I was to put him on that list [of 2026 draftees if Flagg hadn't reclassified] he would be sixth? Just from a skill set and also elevation, a level of where they can get to? I don't know if that is true.  A lot of people have the top of this draft much higher than they had Flagg and they have a lot more of them ranked that highly.  6 seems low, but Flagg at 4 in this upcoming draft class is entirely reasonable all things equal.  I think that is one of the main reasons Flagg reclassified.  This draft is projected to be awesome.  See if it holds true, but it is being projected as the best draft class since Lebron's by many people (no Lebron in the class, but potentially several Anthony/Wade/Bosh level players).

That is the main reason I was willing to tank this year.  Obviously not now, but I thought Boston would more like a play in level team and if that was the case, thought tanking was the way to go given the projected quality of this draft.

I mean here is Kevin O'Connor from November

Obviously some people feel better about Flagg than the guys next summer, but it is far from a sure thing he would have even been a top 3 pick.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

The Knicks seemed to have gotten out of their slump. On the verge of their 6th straight win

I still wonder if they will make a significant move or two at the deadline

There are some really interesting players in this draft, but I would have taken Cooper Flagg first.

Cooper Flagg, as a proven producer in the NBA at age 18/19, is head and shoulders over any pick in the 2026 draft.  He's neck and neck with LeBron for the best age 18 season ever.
