At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Charlotte started the season with just 4 wins in their opening 18 games. Since then, since late Nov, Charlotte has 15 wins vs 14 losses.

Basically .500 ball for the last 2 months.

Clippers are on one heck of a run. They started the season with only 6 wins in their first 27 games. Since then, since Dec 21, the Clippers have gone on a huge run winning 15 out of 18 games (BOS, NY, CHI got them).

They are now back in position for a play-in spot.

-----------------------------

Dallas and Memphis are failing to put together a strong challenge for that final play-in spot. GSW lost Jimmy Butler and will likely drop back to a .500 team or worse. So they will drop down if not drop out of the play-in altogether.

LAC look a good bet to stay in that play-in slot. Portland too. Phoenix, POR, LAC look to be 3 of the 4 play in teams. GSW have the head start over DAL and MEM for the final spot. Anyway, good chance LAC gets through those play-ins to the playoffs. I like Portland over Phoenix as well. So I hope POR and LAC win the play-ins and complete the playoff picture in the West.

The Knicks are showing interest in Jrue Holiday

Quote
Rumbles that the Knicks have explored pathways to try to acquire Portland's Jrue Holiday.

There are at least two clear reasons why New York would have interest in a player who helped both Milwaukee and Boston win championships this decade: 1) The presumption that acquiring Holiday, if there's a way, would make the Knicks an even more attractive destination to Holiday's former Bucks teammate Antetokounmpo; 2) New York is believed to hold a longstanding fondness for Holiday as a potential backcourt complement to Jalen Brunson.

The Knicks are $100k shy of the second apron.  Portland is $1 million short of the tax.  It will be very hard to make a trade work and will probably mean someone like Mitchell Robinson or Josh Hart gets traded, if not both, which I would personally love.

They need to stay healthy. Been their biggest issue for years.

A lot of people bring up New York as a trade destination for Giannis, I would be worried about Detroit if they can pull it off. And they absolutely can, they have a lot of draft picks they can offer (up to four future first rounders), a salary-match in Tobias Harris, and 1-2 young players like Ivey/Duren/Thompson they could dangle. Now the risk is it disrupts their current chemistry and standings, but adding Giannis would firmly make Detroit a favorite in the East even over New York and Boston (with a healthy Tatum too). A Cade-Giannis duo would also be scary.

I would worry for Detroit.  They have a good team.  Giannis health is questionable this year, and he will leave after next season.  They should stick with what they  are doing and not try to skip a step by trading for a star who will it stay.

Giannis isn?t going to accept a trade to Detroit.

Jrue would be great for NY. Neither of their star wings (Mikal Bridges, Anunoby) provide secondary ball-handling / passing / playmaking. Jrue would help their ball movement. Provide more connectivity plays in their offense.

Would Cade & Giannis play well together?

I don't think Cade and Giannis are a good fit (nor is Duren and Giannis), but Detroit definitely has the pieces to make a move and I wouldn't be surprised if they do pull the trigger on an upgrade.

Trades will happen but it's a bit crazy the deadline is just 8 days away and there hasn't already been much action or strong rumors. And yeah, it's next Thursday. Snuck up fast.

Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home at the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline or in the offseason as several rival teams make aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks for him, and the franchise is starting to listen, league sources tell ESPN.
