The Sacramento Kings are reportedly seeking a first-round pick for Keon Ellis, per James L. Edwards III (The Athletic).

I am curious if the Celtics would make a genuine offer for Ellis. He seems like such a Mazzulla type player.

With 1st round picks being more valuable under the new CBA, and players like Trae Young not even getting a first round pick, how likely is it that Ellis will get one?

agreed.  if Trae can't garner even one, Ellis won't either.  a couple of seconds and trade filler probably

The article I read did say a "late round' first, but it's still steep.

Saric doesn't add anything.  So, it's essentially Ellis + filler for Hauser.  I think that makes us worse.

Can't exactly say this is surprising.

Memphis might have wanted to entertain these offers prior to Trae Young tanking the market for star PGs that have proven tough to build a successful team around.

why Morant may garner more interest - more entertainment value to put butts in seats and is under a cheaper contract for a bit longer
why Morant may garner less interest - off court issues are serious enough to worry about him being banned from the league for a stretch and no guarantee the team gets some financial flexibility from the league in his absense.

(a) Would Miami trade Tyler Herro for Ja Morant?

(b) Would Morant be a better fit for Miami given they also have Norm Powell?

(3) Is Ja Morant even better than Tyler Herro anymore? Herro has improved a lot these past 2-3 years and Morant has declined a lot over that same period. Is Morant even an upgrade?

yeah Saric was filler who I'd expect to be dumped.  That trade gets Boston much closer to out of the tax (if they can dump Saric) and if Tatum is back, I think Ellis is a better fit roster wise.  He also provides more long term flexibility

I am trying to think of others team that might be interested in Morant.

* Sacramento
* New Orleans? Would they want to pair Morant & Zion together?
* Cleveland? Would they be interested in swapping Darius Garland for Morant? Garland would likely be the best individual talent on offer for Morant if Cleveland was willing to do that.
* Phoenix? Pair Morant & D Booker. Phoenix having a strong season without a traditional PG. But they also had a great run with CP3 + D Booker. Maybe Jalen Green heading the other way to Memphis.
* Minnesota. It is hard to see what the offer may be. They won't part with Ant. Julius Randle doesn't look a good fit for Memphis. Maybe Jaden McDaniels + youth / picks.
* Chicago. Coby White and filler headed the other way.
* Houston. Jabari Smith Jr to Memphis. Morant, Amen, Okogie / DFS, Durant, Sengun as starting lineup.
* Orlando. Deal based around Jalen Suggs. Put a big 4 together of Morant, Bane, F Wagner, Banchero.
* Toronto. Deal based around Quickley + youth / picks. Morant, RJ Barrett, Ingram, S Barnes, Poeltl.

I don't see what the LA Clippers could offer. I doubt Utah is interested in Morant. Brooklyn look set for a long term rebuild so I doubt they would be interested in Morant. Dallas have Kyrie. I don't see a deal Milwaukee could offer. Probably not Charlotte but small chance of a LaMelo / Morant swap.

If the Trae trade couldn't return meaningful value to Atlanta, I imagine that Morant's market will be even weaker.  They both require full control of the offense to play their game, Ja is even weaker off ball because he can't shoot, he's just as poor a defender, he's just as injury-prone, and he's additionally a clubhouse concern with his off-court shenanigans and frequent clashes with coaches or management.  IMHO if somebody wanted to take a risk on all of that, they would have simply beaten Washington's offer for Trae.

I prefer Simons straight up.  This year, Simons is demonstrating a willingness to fit into a team, to adapt his game to more of an off-ball role, and to put in work on defense.  I haven't seen any of that in Morant.  And that's before even mentioning the fact that Simons is a good kid with a positive history of community outreach while Ja carries himself like a twit.

Mavericks big man Anthony Davis has ligament damage in his left hand, sources tell Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon of ESPN

https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/2009736417887314203

According to ESPN's duo, Davis is getting a second opinion on his injured hand could miss multiple months if surgery is deemed the best course of action to treat the injury.

This could go down as one of the absolute worst trades ever. I am still not convinced though Doncic will ever stay in shape for a full season though but man, this AD is as fragile as cracked glass. Who in their right mind would trade anything of value for him now?

I watched the replay last night (or whatever his last game was) and boy did that look so fragile. A player just seemingly softly bumped him. And lo and behold, he's out for multiple months because of it. This is insanity, and this is one reason why some of us fans get frustrated with professional players eating up payroll.
