Speaking of the Lakers on this page, Reaves may miss a while, more than a month. That's a tough loss for them, he's been great alongside Doncic to start the season.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves has been diagnosed with a grade 2 left gastrocnemius strain and will be reevaluated in four weeks.

This is where my med school knowledge helps lol, the gastrocnemius is an important calf muscle, more so the upper half while soleus is lower half. It's basically a pulled muscle, maybe partially torn. Grade 2 is a 4-6 week timeline, although he's got to be careful because calf injuries are obviously tricky, one wrong move or major setback and it could be Achilles next.

Honestly he could end up missing 6+ weeks overall. Makes life harder for LAL.

I saw an interesting Austin Reaves comparison online recently. They basically called Reaves a Zach LaVine clone.

There may be something to that, as both are roughly the same height, both are score first shooting guards, both are extremely talented offensively and both are turnstiles defensively.

If you look at both players breakout seasons, there are similarities.

2020-21 LaVine: 27.4 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 4.9 AST

2025-26 Reaves: 26.6 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 6.3 AST

Good news for LeBron.

His position is no longer under threat. They need him now as a #2 to Luka. LeBron will have more patience as he continues to get up to speed after missing early part of the season.

They can also replace A Reaves with a defensive guard like M Smart to ease defensive burden on LeBron.

LeBron has more time now to get back to last season's levels.

Two interesting trade notes.

1. I wonder if the Knicks are gonna trade for Giannis, but I also wonder if MIL would even want KAT back in a trade

2. GSW is exploring a trade for AD, potentially a 3-teamer. Honestly I think given his injury issues, Golden State makes sense since that team needs to find a new iteration to potentially make one last push these next few years with Curry before he retires, and they are stagnant now. Can't trust AD to stay healthy but it's probably worth a gamble for them. And I think Kerr and the team is getting even more tired of Draymond, and he could be flipped in some deal this deadline because I think they want to try and do something with Curry + Butler in the mix
