If they move both Davis and Kyrie to big market teams to help the league's ratings, I think there's a high likelihood they get a top 3 pick in this draft no matter how far up in the lottery they have to jump.  just a feeling

It is either that or trade Flagg.  One reason they had to ditch Nico is he would not be able to trade Davis because he would need a Luka-sized return, which he is not getting.

Spurs have a ton of talent but the poor coaching really jumped off the screen to me. Some of the stuff they were running in the fourth was baffling. No way they should have lost that game.

Jeremiah Fears had 7 steals last night. He is averaging 2 steals per game in only 26.5 minutes prior to last night. Thief.

He is averaging 14.4ppg but shooting numbers are bad as you would expect since it was the same thing in college. Only 51% TS.

I am surprised Fears is only averaging 3.1 assists in 26.5mpg. That is an assist every 9 minutes. For a PG? I expected him to create more for teammates. To get a lot of dribble penetration in the NBA. To have the quickness and athleticism to get into the paint regularly. So I am surprised by those low assist numbers. That is disappointing.

They have a great graph there on offensive rebounding rate over the last 20 years. You can see it crash from around 2011 to 2017-21 with the uptick starting then year by year from 2022-26.

Pursuing offensive rebounds was once seen as not worth the risk of fewer defenders back in transition, but the conventional wisdom is changing. Possessions after offensive rebounds prove to be especially valuable, since they start with the ball close to the basket and the defense scrambling.

Free-throw attempts have also spiked, with teams taking 25.3 per 100 possessions. That?s a massive increase from 21.8 last season and the highest mark since 2010-11, when players took far more shots inside the 3-point arc, where fouls are more common.

I had to look into this.  Here are BOS OReb stats for the first 13 games of 2025 vs. 2024:

2025   172 ORebs  601 Missed Shots
2024   131 Orebs  632 Missed Shots

So BOS is getting a lot more ORebs even on fewer missed shots, consistent with the league trend.

As to ORebs given up by BOS:

2025   165 ORebs  620 Missed Shots
2024   129 Orebs  623 Missed Shots

Both sides of this are seeing the same uptick.  ORebs Opponent vs. BOS are pretty much neutral in 2025 and were also in 2024.  Just a lot fewer in 2024 for both.

I believe it is easier to get an offensive rebound on shots taken further from the basket.  More variance in where the ball will go.  So as teams shoot more and more 3's I'd expect more and more offensive rebounds.

BOS 3PA are actually down from 2024 through 13 games, Opponent 3PA is exactly the same (I double checked my sort, through 13 games, exactly the same).  So 3PA for BOS are down, with missed shots overall about the same, but Opponent ORebs is up.  And BOS is getting more ORebs on about the same Opponent missed shots and 3PA.

This trend may not hold up, but for now, this is not about 3PA per the stats.  Now maybe the 3PA are from farther out, I don't know.

Houston have an offensive rebounding rate of 38.5%.

They are getting back 2 out of every 5 missed shots. That is incredible.
