Pistons lose again vs Orlando, Cade missed another freethrow in the endgame.

That is a big win for Atlanta over Cleveland.

Looks like the Cavs got some big performances from guys too. Donovan Mitchell with 42pts on 15-28 FGA. Mobley with 20pts 14reb 7ast 2stl 2blk. Garland with 15pts 10ast. D Hunter with 16pts.

And the Hawks still won. Without Trae. Jalen Johnson with 29pts 12reb 12ast. Okongwu 18pts 7reb 4ast 2stl 2blk. No Porzingis either. 30pts for NAW. Dyson Daniels with a near triple double at 10pts 9ast 8reb. Risacher 14pts.

Both teams have 12 wins 8 losses now.

Chicago started the season with 6 wins and 1 loss. They were the #1 seed in the East. Then they lost 5 straight to go 6-6 and dropped all the way to 11th in the East. Out of the play-in picture.

Now they have 9 wins 9 losses. In 10th place.

Chicago are only in 10th place because Milwaukee have dropped 7 straight games while Giannis has been out injured and have dropped out of the playoff picture themselves.

Do we believe in Toronto? Credit to them, they've won 9 straight and are the current 2 seed, but idk I sort of wonder if the Bulls thing will happen to them too.

SGA

* 32.9ppg in 33.4mpg
* 54.5% FG 42.3% 3PT 89.1% FT 67.5% TS
* 6.7apg 4.9rpg 1.6spg

The guy is ridiculous. Those per minute scoring numbers combined with that efficiency is amazing.

Quote
Michael Scotto: Giannis Antetokounmpo on Ryan Rollins: ?I?ve been in the NBA 13 years. I?ve had 200-300 teammates. A jump for a guy that came two years ago to a two-way contract, non-guaranteed, a guaranteed deal, to the player he is today. I don?t think I?ve seen a jump like that in my career.?

Pushed his numbers up to 23ppg 8ast while Giannis was out for 4 games. Shooting numbers dropped though. 43.5% FG 26.5% 3PT. So not efficient scoring. Had an efficient 25pts and 6ast in another game Giannis has missed.

On the season as a whole:

*18ppg 6apg 4rpg.
* 48.6% FG 41.2% 3PT. 59% TS. Lowish TS% given his high marks at FG and 3PT percentages.
* Hardly ever gets to the FT line. Only 2.2 FTAs against 14.5 FGAs. That gives him a 15% FT rate. Way below average. That is what is dragging down his TS%.
* Takes 6 threes per game. Not that high against the 14.5 FGAs. 41% of his shots are 3s.
* So he takes almost 60% twos. That is interesting.  Takes about 25% of his shots at the rim where he makes 70% of his shots. High number for a PG. 10% of his shots from 3-10 feet where he made only 27% of them. 10% of his shots from 10-16 feet where he hit 43% of them. About 7% of his shots from 16-23 feet where he hit 37% of them. So his jumper doesn't look reliant in the midrange (20-59 FG on 10-23 footers). He is efficient at the rim and at the three point line.
* 6.0apg to 2.7 turnovers per game. Little over 2:1 AST:TOV ratio which ain't great for a PG. 5.3apg to 2.5 turnovers in the first 15 games which he shared with Giannis.

Milwaukee lost all 5 games they played without Giannis. So they are 9 wins 7 losses with Giannis and 0-5 without Giannis. Not sure how much Ryan Rollins is moving the needle here. Feels more like a role player whose stats (ppg, apg) are inflated due to the lack of quality players on the team.

And then they lose to the Hornets.  :laugh:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Early in the year, health is a major factor on the record of teams.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I don't believe in Toronto. I don't believe in Detroit either.

Where do you see the Cs in the East with JT back at 90+%?   And what about with a Simons+ for Claxton (or equivalent)?   I?m thinking that JT must be targeting a March or April return - at least he is probably daydreaming it.   I don?t see an East powerhouse that Cs couldn?t compete with.

Claxton and Tatum could make the Celtics the team to beat in the East.

I wouldn't be high on them without Nic Claxton. I would view the team more as a 4th/5th seed. Not a real contender. Not with only 1 serviceable big man in Queta. Then again, there a few East teams in that same bracket (ORL, MIL, DET, TOR). And the teams ahead of that bracket (CLE, NYK) aren't that far ahead of them. Nic Claxton would definitely erase that gap.

Porzingis is once again on the injury list. How many games has he played? I feel bad for KP. He looked great while playing for the Euro qualifiers. Had some nice games with Atlanta as well. But the injury bug just keeps coming at him. Now there are reports that Atlanta might move on from him.

He?s sick, not injured.

Porzingis (illness) is out for Sunday's game against the 76ers, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

My guess is whenever he gets sick his POTS flares up again.  It is more than a generic illness at this point for him, and will likely inhibit his availability for the long-term.

Sorry for the wrong choice of words. What i wanted to say was his availability has been scarce (12 out of 21 games so far). Be it because of rest, illness, or injury he has already missed a lot of games in this young NBA season.
