Doubt Chicago would go for that. Giddey has too much upside. C?s would have to throw in multiple 1st round picks.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I am not that sure for all we would give up, that Giddy is even an upgrade. I mean I get it, everyone wants to trade Simons. Giddey has huge potential, but Simons is a better scorer right now. I am still in the camp, lets see what we have in Simons before we trade him.

That was my initial reaction.  Giddey is a career 33% from 3 (granted, better the last couple of seasons).  His best season is about 17 ppg.  He has length over Simons, and that is why he is viewed as having more upside.  Simons has 3 straight seasons of scoring roughly 20 ppg and shooting in the 37% range from 3.   I bet is is a pretty short list of players who scored 20+ and shot 37%+ from 3 over the last 3 seasons.

I am totally with lbgreen33, although it seems not many others are.  I want to see how Simons looks as a Celtic.  There certainly are players out there who I would trade Simon and a first for, but Giddey is not one right now.  Maybe by Dec 9 and we see how both Giddey and Simons are looking.  I have my doubts that Giddey will look any better than Simons though.

I?d rather have the much better shooter in Simons as a fit for our team. They are both defensively limited. Giddey was a high usage player for Chicago much of last season, but long term when on a team that is seriously competing, I have my doubts that will continue. Case in point partly why OKC traded him. His shooting improved but it?s not reliable, he?s a such a quirky player as he is a great passer, his finishing seemed better last year, but I don?t think he is someone you build around. When you don?t have much else he is someone you can lean on. I?d rather hold onto those draft picks plus Simons for potentially something else. I also personally want to see how it looks on the court with Simons.

For all the flaws Giddey has, he is much better than Simons. The only reason Simons is still on our roster is because no one wants him.

Giddey is very average defensively, but Simons is one of the worst defenders in the league. Simons is a 6th man at best because he is very hot and cold from long range.

The idea of Giddey on the Celtics is that the team finally has an actual playmaking guard. The biggest flaw for the Celtics over the last few years (including the Championship season) is that when the shot clock is running down, we do not have someone who can make a decisive pass. This is why the team loses so many tight games & big leads.

In theory you would play the season out and get Giddey accustomed to the team, then in 2026 re-sign Porzingis on a team friendly deal and you have another contender.

Correct. Simons is a decent scorer, but that is the only thing he does well. Giddey does many things well and his shooting was decent once he arrived in Chicago. Josh is also only 22, so he?s not even close to his prime.

If Giddey is available for Simons in December, that means that he will be playing terribly.
