One  thing with the proliferation of autos in modern cards, its never been cheaper or easier to get autos of all sorts of players. I have a buddy that is trying to get an auto of all of the guys on the NBA 75 list.  He has something like 55-57 of them already.

Interesting.  I?d say it?s the somewhat the opposite.  It?s definitely easier to get autographs now but most definitely wouldn?t say cheaper.  I?ve just about completed a set of 60 signed cards from the 90s and some of these guys cost an arm and leg.  Non hall of famers too.

Not to mention fanatics has rookies who haven?t even played a game at the professional level yet charging $200 to sign a card

There?s a signing for John Stockton coming up, it costs $400 for him to sign a basketball card.  Absolutely bananas

Yeah, I was looking at Tatum auto cards the other day and the cheapest I saw on EBay was around $300.

Absolutely, and those are cards Tatum signed through the card company.  If you had an unsigned card that you personally wanted him to sign, I?d be very comfortable wagering that it would cost at least $500

In some ways the original poster is right. Take the True Tim Dunkin rookie card PSA 10. I remember when that card was $700 all day! You can get it now for $100.
The market is weird, Zion Williams was $500 to $600 for the true rookie PSA 10 now can be had for $25.
That?s part of what makes it fun. Try to predict who will have a break out year, then sell high.
That?s for my spec cards, not my personal collection cards.

When you say ?true rookie? which card are you referring to? I have some Zion cards, so I was curious.
The Zion silver prizm rookie PSA 10 starts at $300 on EBay.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Yeah, autographs are weird.  I generally collect autos from the card companies, because they're authenticated and for whatever reason hold more value.  At a meet and greet, you tend to pay more than the card will sell for.  But, you're in close proximity to the player, so you're paying for the experience and the memory.

I'M THE SILVERBACK GORILLA IN THIS MOTHER... AND DON'T NONE OF YA'LL EVER FORGET IT!

You are correct, that is the Silver Prizm rookie! I am talking about the Panini Prizm Rookie, they spiked way up. Now it?s in the $25 range. The Silver Prizm is the short-printed parallel. So yes, they are staring $200 to $300. Much fewer silvers out there👍

True Roy, memories can fade and you still overpaid for the autograph!! lol, 😂 I?m kidding and I a bit jaded. But 100% agree with you, unless you really want the photo with the autograph, the card company is your best bet.

People were paying $500+ for his base prizm rookie? Yikes! Will be interesting to see how Cooper Flaggs cards do. I have a feeling they will be stupid expensive like the Luka Doncic RCs.
