Just read that Ohtani is being sued for 240 million in Hawaii..dude got out of gambling charges so he will get out of this..MLB don?t want their #1 player tarnished the game

I don't think the league will do anything about this.  It's a civil matter, and even if proven, isn't something that carries the same weight as a criminal case.

They shut down the gambling case because it was pretty clear from the getgo Ohtani was a victim.  Not sure about this one, but I will be surprised if the plaintiffs get anywhere near $240 million.  Sounds to me like they had a business idea that went nowhere for ten years, they brought Ohtani in to save it, and then another other business partner cut these two out and kept Ohtani because these two had not added any value in a decade.

I don't think it is clear at all Ohtani was a victim in the gambling case.  The league wanted him to be and didn't investigate or press that at all. I think his victim hood easily could have fallen under a real investigation

You were wrong on this last year and you are wrong today.  The FBI led the investigation and his interpreter was charged with bank fraud and is now in federal prison for another 4 years, in addition to owing $17 million in restitution.  But MLB should have investigated and found out what?  That the FBI, Mizuhara, Ohtani, and the judge are in cahoots, and it is a sham 5-year prison sentence?  Not everything has to be a conspiracy, you know.  We see sports stars defrauded all the time by people who are supposed to be close to them.  There is nothing different here.

I just don't believe that for 3 years Mizuhara directly transferred 17 million from Ohtani's accounts without Ohtani knowing (whether directly or via his tax professionals). Which matches Ohtani'a original statement that he transferred money to clear his friends debts (and then immediately changed that tune when he realized what that meant to his career).  Mizuhara then took some responsibility so his good friend could claim he didnt know and continue his career (Mizuhara was going to jail anyway, adding on a few years to protect Ohtani makes sense). 

I do not think Mizuhara was placing bets for Ohtani (though only 2 people knkw that). I think he did that on his own, I just dont believe for a second Ohtani didnt know that the money was being used by Mizuhara and what Mizuhara was using it for.  But when Mizuhara is testifying under oath he stole the money and there is no other evidence it is an easy case to close.

Just a little curious of what you mean here. If he was not placing the bets for Ohtani, but Ohtani knew about it, what does that mean? That Ohtani was just sitting there watching his friend lose all his money but did nothing about it?

I'm saying I don't believe that for 3 years Mizuhara was transferring 16 million dollars directly from Ohtani's bank account without Ohtani knowing about it.   This wasn't a one time recent transfer of the whole amount. It wasn't Mizuhara siphoning off a small amount each paycheck.  This was millions of dollars in direct payment over years. There is no way Ohtani didn't know about the payments.

because he was helping his friend, which is what the first story said before he promptly changed that after he realized he would get suspended.  Or maybe he was really doing the betting. 

I just don't think it is reasonable to believe he had no idea that he had 16 million dollar "stolen" from him with direct payments out of his bank account over multiple years.  It just isn't reasonable.
