As a viking fan, I'm happy for Sam the person, but wanted you guys to win.

1-My team will be the joke for years due to this(Despite the fact they still made the right call imo as I don't think we win it all with sam anyway).

2-annoys the NE haters out there who are sick of the pats still.

Don't worry, the Jets will always be the bigger jokes for giving up on him first  :police:

Was there anyone who thought that the Patriots were the better team heading into the SB?  If you did, I understand the discouragement, but there is some truth about the Pats schedule and there is a lot of truth about Seattle really being the best team in the league this year.  They lost because to a better team, specifically manifesting in that team's ability to cover well while their defensive line manhandled the Pats O-line.  Drake was pressured constantly, receivers were covered, and pocket collapsed quickly giving Drake no room to escape up the middle as he has often done.  Very true that Maye (McDaniels) weren't able to adjust, but I think that has a lot to do with playing against a superior and well-coached team.

I was hopeful they'd play well and find a way to win, but my mind kept coming up the Super Bowl equivalent of the Mac Jones playoff team.  They just weren't ready to compete at this level yet.  I was hoping that wasn't the case, but that's what my gut was telling me.

But jeez, they made it farther than anyone else.  So it's not a bad level to be at.

Jon Stewart had a good joke on his introduction on the Daily Show. I recommend watching at least the first minute when he talks about the Super Bowl.

Eh. Darnold was legitimately bad in NY and was getting worse not better.  He was also legitimately bad his 1st season in Carolina though year 2 finally showed some life.  Goes to SF for a year and looks ok as a backup before finally looking legit in Minny.  Roughly the same player in Seattle though didn't flame out on the largest stage.  In other words, you can't really blame NY for giving up on him as he was terrible all 3 years.  He clearly just needed time to mature, learn, etc. and he was never going to get that in NY.  Minnesota on the other hand knew what they had as he was quite good and so was the team.  Epic mistake letting him go and that is why the GM is no longer there (or at least a big part as to why).

2026 NFLPA report card, with the Patriots ranking 26 out of 32 teams in the league across a variety of rankings.
It?s actually an improvement for New England. After ranking 29th out of 32 teams in the 2024 report cards, New England plummeted to 31st in the NFL in 2025 before making limited gains with these 2026 results.

Here are the various grades that New England received from this past season, per ESPN?s Kalyn Kahler:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Stefon Diggs had an additional $6 million  set to become fully guaranteed next week Friday. The Patriots didn?t want to drag him along and informed him today they?re moving on, giving him a jump start. He?ll be released next Wednesday.

Alec Pierce or DJ Moore inbound.....  I don't think they pay the price for AJ.

It was nice to have a legit big-name receiver for a change. Hopefully they find another one this offseason.

32yo, owed $26M this year and next, and lots of drama recently.

The team was lucky to get him when we were horrible, but maybe they think of themselves as more of a destination now that they won the SB and Drake finished 2nd in MVP voting.

Diggs did a really nice job for the Pats last year and came up big at times, but $26M is no joke. Hopefully they land somebody better
