Welp, guess we might have to lower this year's expectations with the Pats. Can't even beat the Raiders in Foxboro and we're 2.5 point favorites.

Gonna be in for a long season, eh Mike Vrabel. Next week: @ Miami. The annual house of horrors, that's another L chalked up esp with the Fins getting obliterated by the Colts today they prob need to win that home opener

3rd and 20, need a stop, and you let that up? So embarrassingly bad

Completely miserable second half.

Basically shutout in the 2nd half at home. Brutal

Unfortunately, I never thought the Pats had a chance in this game.

Pats offense still looks disjointed. The o-line is still quite bad. No running game. Drake isn't smart enough so far to be able to overcome this. Seems unsure of himself. And some flat-out bad throws.

Vrabel talked earlier this week about how the Pats need to continue to rebuild through the draft, and he's right - it's incredible how bad this roster got the last few years.

Not a lot of bright spots, but a few. Overall, they were just not ready. The offensive line was better than I thought for pass protection, but worse than I thought in the run game. I think they will get better.  I had already lowered my expectations. Now I may lower them a little more.

Drake looked like a deer in the headlights in this game

Sooo, maybe only 5-6 wins instead of 8-9?

Agreed. Only positives that I saw on offense today was Boutte, who went over a 100 yards and Henderson who averaged 5.4 YPC. Drake didn?t look comfortable and Campbell was mediocre at best.

Boutte, Hawkins and Landry were positives

Not a lot else was very good. Was hoping the d line would be more disruptive although they did have good stretches. Secondary was without Christian Gonzalez, but a little disappointing in general from them given the raiders skill group isnt much to write home about after Bowers.

Drake was bad and my biggest disappointment was a total inability to establish any run or screen game. Our line is gonna be miserable against the pass but SHOULD be decent in the run. Saw none of that.

Didn't watch the game, but Maye's numbers weren't bad i.e. 30 of 46 for 287 with a TD and INT.  Not great but not bad.  The thing that stands out is Henderson with 5.4 yards per carry, but only 5 attempts. What was that about.  Why not get him the ball a lot more.  Also, national talking heads focused a lot in clock management at end of game. Supposedly really bad from Vrabel.

Numbers don't tell the story in either case.  Maye had a bunch of very inaccurate.  Even some of his completions were thrown behind the receiver, where an accurate throw would have led to more yards after reception.  He also seemed to be missing an open receiver at times because he was locked into one guy.

Henderson's average per carry was skewed by one long run on a draw play on 3rd and forever where he picked up 14.  But yeh, they really weren't looking to establish the run game.  I think largely due to the Raiders winning the battle at the line.  They seemed to have 3 guys wherever the Pats were going.
