Revenge game for Josh McDaniels...now folks don't get your hopes up after a Week 1 win such as last year against the Bengals  ;D

Yeah, last season, Mayo actually had the Pats more ready to play week 1 than the Bengals.  Turned out to be a fluke game.  I am worried that it will be the Pats who aren't ready for week 1 this season.  4 of 5 new OL (and Onwenu playing a different position), almost the entire defense is new (worse without Christian Gonzalez).  All new coaches/schemes.  Hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

And Campbell is questionable due to an ankle injury, lol. So how many sacks is Maye gonna take? I'll say 4.

I'd put the chances of Campbell not playing at around 0%. He's way too tough to let a minor injury hold him out of his debut.

I got Pats winning 20-17

Pats have their issues but the Raiders to me also have some issues. And even with the injuries, the Pats definitely have more talent than they did last year (granted, they still don't have a ton of it but last year and 2023 were way worse somehow)

I'd also like to think McDaniels will scheme things so Maye won't make many mistakes and even if it means "sacrificing" possessions with the typical 3rd and long "draw play", maybe that's better than risking an INT or something. He sort of did that with Mac in 2021 and they did go 10-7.

Every mock I saw had McConkey going before Polk as well.

It's not just play vs. not play; if he plays, how effective will he be with an injury?

I appreciate Campbell's toughness and I am sure he is eager to play in the NFL, but if the ankle is injured at all, in any way not full strength, any potential structural weakness in the ankle, I do not think he should play.  This is a call for the Doctors/Trainers and the coaching staff, not a 21 year old rookie.  I don't know the situation of course, but I do not see this as a "tough it out" kind of situation.  There is no reason to take any risk at all.

The ankle should be fully healed and also everything around it should be back to full strength before they put him on the field.  There is enough risk of injury in the NFL anyway, no reason to create even more risk, especially with this player and at this point in the season.  Again, I don't know what the deal is with his ankle, maybe it is fully healed and fully strengthened  If he is OK and can play, great, put him out there, but be smart.

It's an ankle injury that wasn't serious enough to keep him from practicing in the portion of Friday's practice that's open to the media. He'll have it taped up and no one will notice any difference.

I expect him to get beat on moves that force him and Wilson to work hand in hand since they're both rookies, but not from his ankle.

That end of half sequence was ridiculous, but thankfully he missed the 58-yard FG. 3rd and 1, why on earth is that the playcall McDaniels??  >:(

Also why is Stevenson getting more playing time than Henderson, you know, an electric rookie who offers way more. Stevenson for a "big back" has trouble getting even a single yard sometimes. Even on the play leading to 3rd and 1 he had a chance to pick it up and just went down easily.

I'd actually use Gibson more than Stevenson too. Gibson is shifty and has YAC ability.

3rd and 20, need a stop, and you let that up? So embarrassingly bad

Completely miserable second half.
