Someone made a good point online that the Pats have a lot of cap space because their drafting is very terrible. To the point where most of these guys aren't getting 2nd contracts here after their rookie deals. That's been a problem. Even the 2024 class already looks like mostly a disaster after Maye. Yes, if Maye turns out to be elite that'll be huge but you still need a team around him.
But also, nearly 60M in cap space. For a team with little depth and a shaky OL. Sorry but again, is this team doing everything to try and succeed? Are the Krafts building another lighthouse or facility that requires them to not spend up to the cap??
I get that we shouldn't "spend needlessly" but this team has been 4-13 the last two seasons with limited talent. They are certainly more talented this year but the bar was kinda low to begin with. I mean the Pats did have talent around Brady and you know, an ACTUAL O-Line most years. Not to compare our current situation with the GOAT, but how is this now 6 years with a shaky/bad O-Line?? There were left guards available in FA and via trade like Thuney but we basically did nothing and are relying on a rookie to fill the spot, next to another rookie in Campbell and then a center spot that's also shaky. Cool!
