If we were gonna send picks and players to the Hawks for one of their pieces, I'd much rather have Okongwu than Trae.

Trae is the better player, but Okongwu is a way better fit and would be a perfect Celtic. The kicker, though, is that neither is available (nor should they be)

Hawks don't want to pay Ice Trey the big bucks.  That's why its a possibility.
If the Hawks who know Young best aren't willing to pay him the big bucks, why should the Celtics do so?  Celts can't even afford it with JT, JB and White on the books whereas the Hawks can afford it.

Because the Hawks don't have Tatum,  Brown,  and White.

This trade would put Brown, where he should be as the number 3 option,That can strictly attack and shoot 3's. When he gets the ball tatum and trey young would go back and forth with setting up the offense and it would be absolutely inundstoppable offense

Given salaries I?m not sure I?d take Young straight up over Pritchard.

Yes you would NG. Please just think for a moment what 11 to 12 assists per game would do for Tatum and Brown.

All the easy buckets to get those guys started, which is so important for any player. We have never had any elite passer to ignite this offense.

Please watch a minute of this video to expand your vision of what this team could look like with him.  People are really slandering this kid.  having him as  one of our top three guys would be amazing to watch.

He would be the Best closer on.the Celtics.  The number one option most of the time. Tatum is not elite at and of games.

Young's "11 to 12 assists per game" happen because Trae has the ball all of the time. Are we really going to take the ball out of Tatum's hands? Can Trae play off ball? Trae is not a good fit. I question whether he is even a winning player.
that s why I called him a modern Iverson.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

Hah! You?re probably correct that if the opportunity were real, you?d have to make that trade. But? the difference in value, given salary, is not really that great.  PP can shoot with Trae for sure.  Driving, making own offense, and passing go to Trae, but Payton is solid in those areas.  Rebounding to Payton. Defense to Payton.  Contract to Payton.

I am not sure Jaylen or Tatum would benefit much from Trae Young's passing. A few opportunities here or there but also reduced time on the ball taking away some other opportunities.

I think the players Trae would help the most are the role players who cannot create their own offense. Trae was terrific with a rim roller like Clint Capela. He also is great at creating opportunities for spot up shooters. So it is the other guys on the team that I think Trae could help with his playmaking. Not the Jays.

I don't think Trae helps scorers / stars / iso players.
