Simons for Kuminga .. go BS make it happen...

I think Kuminga has an awful feel for the game. There is a reason why someone with similar physical gifts in Jalen Johnson took off while Kuminga has stagnated.

So now we have no established PF on the roster. Josh Minott is closest thing to that. Hugo Gonzalez looks like the backup PF. Both are SFs.

F: Jaylen, Hauser, J Walsh
F: J Minott, Hugo Gonzalez
C: Queta, L Garza, X Tillman

Those PF and C positions are going to get beaten up a lot next season.

Dude, Hugo is a 6'6" guard.  He'll be a backup PG/SG maybe slipping into a SF role every now and then.

He's 6'7'' - pretty much the same size as the kid from Arizona that went to the Spurs and is considered a forward.

Physically & athletically = Hugo Gonzalez reminds me of Dan Majerle.

A SF who can also play some SG. Primarily a SF.

I?d like to see Kuminga get out of Steve Kerr?s dog house to see what he can do. Kerr doesn?t want to play him, and yet they don?t want to trade him.

It seems Brad had some players he liked. Guys he would have loved to bring in and see what they have. Then with JT going down and getting under the second apron, he is like well I always liked Minot, I thought RJ Louis Jr was a really intriguing kid. I like the signings, they are kinda sneaky good! I liked Boucher, I always thought he needed to add weight, he never really did, but I like his game.
I think this year is shaping up to be really fun!! I love the chance of a kid coming in and surprising everyone. Seems to me Brad does too, he is filling out the roster with possibilities. That will be a lot of fun to watch, can't wait!!

I feel we can have a season like those prime IT years. Those were fun times with IT, ET, Jerebko, etc.

Agree with both of you. I?m not dreading this season at all.

Well maybe dreading watching LAL contend.

The two second-round picks Boston is sending Utah as part of the Georges Niang-for-RJ Luis Jr. trade are the 2027 most favorable between the Celtics/Magic, and the 2031 most favorable between the Celtics/Cavaliers, per source

Just so people don?t think I?m talking out of my ass, Jake Fischer reported that #9 and Barrett was offered for Jrue. No doubt they were also interested in White, but I was not confused when I wrote that. And, yes, I think it was a major mistake if we didn?t accept that deal if it was really offered.

Yeah, I saw that report at the time, too.  But, I'm not sure about the accuracy.  I mean, I've got to think that Brad could have easily re-routed Barrett and the #9 to BRK for complete salary relief plus one or more of their lower picks.

Jrue to Toronto;

Barrett + #9 + #32 to BKN

Large TPE + #19 + #27 to Boston

Yeah, Brooklyn was willing to take on Mann's $48M contract for just the #22 pick. Barrett is owed only $9M more at $57M over the next two years. It doesn't really add up, but I guess we'll never really know.

As it stands, it's been a pretty rough offseason. Losing those two 2nds from Portland isn't a huge deal, but it feels like an extra kick in the pants.

On an unrelated note, I am glad that one of the 2nds we sent out with Niang was the 2027 BOS/ORL most favorable. That picks has the potential to be mid-50s.

If this was true, I would like to think that Brad did his due diligence and gauged Barrett?s trade value around the league. Perhaps no team wanted 2 years of Barrett and so BS opted for Simons and his expiring contract. Simons would be easier to flip by trade deadline. If RJ was an expiring contract then maybe Brad would have said yes.

I'm sure Brad knew what he was doing, but if in fact it was Barrett and #9 for Jrue, that seems like a very difficult deal to refuse.  Surprising to the point that I doubt that was offered.  I don't doubt the report happened, I just doubt the veracity of it.

I remember seeing that report with Jrue, and I couldn't believe it. Then a few others said it was an offer for White, which seems closer in value. Again, who knows where the truth lies.

If the point is to shed salary, why would Brad want to trade for RJ? He?s making nearly $30M this year and next.

I think this was misreported. At the time there were reports the Raptors offered the #9 for WHITE, but Jake was talking about both Jrue and White in the same appearance and I think wires got crossed.

So what trade exceptions do we have altogether now that this trade is completed?
