The team is now only a bit more than $12 million above the tax.  I'm sure they're looking to trade Simons.  So, a 3 way where we take back roughly $15 million works.
the celtics have not yet convened a press conference to announce simons, have they? i don't expect simons to have a long-term relationship with the celtics.

i just hope they get some credible assets in return.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I suspect that there are many discussions around Simons.  It probably is not so much about if BOS should trade Simons, but more about when.  He is going to have every opportunity to put up numbers on this team.  He may well have more value at the deadline.

Plus I can see value in getting a good look at him in a Celtics' uniform.  It is not out of the realm of possibility that he carves out a role for himself.  Not as likely as him building up his value and then getting traded, but you never know.

The risk of waiting of course this he could get hurt and/or play poorly or selfishly and reduce his value.  I would bet that based on the opportunity on this team, that he plays well, puts up numbers, and is able to attract some interest.

Which leaves out Terence Mann.

I would love Stevens to try moving Simons for Nets Terance Mann.

It would save the Celtics 12 million and it gives the Nets leverage over Cam Thomas.

Mann is decent and all, but we basically already gave BKN a 1st to take on Mann and the $48M owed to him over the next 3 years in the KP deal. I am sure they would have been thrilled to instead get an expiring Simons making a total of $21M less.

It seems as though the Celtics value the expiring over a player making slightly less. There were even rumblings that we declined #9 and Barrett from TOR for Jrue. Not that we'll really have any money to spend next season with our core all locked up, but the KP TPE and full MLE could come in handy. It's too bad we didn't offload Niang in the KP deal. It would have given us a $30M TPE instead.
If that was the trade, the Celtics blew it not doing that.  Maluach would be a fantastic big man prospect going forward.  And Barrett while signed for 1 year longer is simply better and fills more of a need than Simons (and is then an expiring tradeable contract next summer).

So if RJ is on a two way deal then what exactly is happening with Amari Williams? Norris, Shulga and RJ would make all three two-wat spots spoken for.

Maybe they are keeping the last roster spot for a vet they like, but if they can't find one it goes to Amari?

My recollection is the Raptors offered that package for White not Jrue.

I think few people are privy to true offers and it generally doesn?t benefit anyone who is actually in the know to reveal unaccepted offers after the fact. I would guess that after the fact rumors of what was on the table are incorrect more often than they are correct.
