Simmons obviously wasted his talent, but he is still a plus defender and a very good rebounder and passer. At 20 mpg or so, he is worth a flyer at the minimum

On last year's team, we maybe could have considered it.  We had an incredible locker room.

But without Jrue and Horford, and with Tatum rehabbing, I just think there's too much of a chance of him poisoning the team.

I think it is a stretch to conclude that he was good with LAC last season.

Simmons   18 games, 16 minutes, 3 points, 4 rebs.

And somehow managed to be worse in the playoffs.  He is a potential cancer on any team, but I think if his back checked out (which it probably wouldn't), I don't see him being all that disruptive on the team for 2025-26.  I am not sure what there will be to disrupt.  But probably best not to bother with him.  And he has been a "bother" every where he has been.

Even in LA he was. + defender and a good rebounder and passer.  His rates and his numbers all bear that out.  He is and always has been a terrible shooter. He won't give any scoring, but he can still defend, rebound, and pass

Looking forward to the Jaylen Brown interview where he says - *ok - this guy was selected ahead of me??*

Yeah, when not injured, Simmons is a freak athlete.  Think of it this way, how can a player who has that much natural ability only get 3 pts and 4 rebs?  Tillman had better stats in 2023-24 (before he fell off a cliff in 2024-25).

Maybe this will be the season that Simmons has an epiphany and figures it out.  More likely, he joins some team and puts up Tillman numbers, with better passing.  It would be interesting if he joined BOS for 2025-25, and that team is going to need whatever it can get to generate some interest.  So I am not against it, just would have very low expectations.

Well it?s good that Simmons is no longer dramatically overpaid as that in itself can mess with a mind, especially a fragile one.  I wonder if the right mentor were available it would make a difference.  Too bad our best mentor offerings are both gone in Jrue and Al.  Maybe DW and Jaylen can be good for Ben.  I don?t think anyone has expectations that he becomes a good shooter but his length and versatility on D can?t hurt.  And given that 25-26 is what it is, an experiment with Simmons would be fine.  Plus I like having Simmons and Simons.  Combined they make one excellent player.

I don't see a reason not to pick him up for this upcoming season.

I'd be curious to see what effect Joe's brand of aggressive positivism would have in him.

joe (and citing the post above yours, KG) might simply kill him and be done with it.

joking aside, simmons' back operation has really slowed him down and he is no longer the world-class defender he once was.

but, he can still pass very well and rebounds well. with adequate defense and being able to occasionally score under the basket, for the right price why not pick him up?
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
