I am not sure what the point is in Scheierman even being here. He clearly is not able to create his own offense. We now know that. What else is there for us to learn from him playing here? What is there for him to learn by playing there?

Feels like a waste of time at this point. I'd send him home. No need to play any further. Play the other guys. See if they have anything to offer.

To work on his defense.

It?s not working.

Ah, the joys of Summer League.

He seems to be putting a lot of pressure on the ball.  He's racked up a number of steals.  I guess that's something to build on, while working on his fundamentals.

i could not watch the game, so please tell me about walsh's ejection. what lead to it? thanks.

Petulance

It wasn't much of anything.  Walsh was a little aggressive playing defense, it caused the Heat player to sprawl out of bounds (directly into where Stevens was sitting, haha).  The Heat player got up and charged Walsh, and Walsh pushed him.

He was given a tech, which was his second of the game.  It wasn't due to a flagrant or for fighting or anything like that.

So there were 2 plays. The 1st tech and the 2nd tech.

The 1st tech came when Jordan Walsh was in transition, scored and got fouled. Not a hard foul. But then he went after the guy who fouled him to taunt him. The ref bailed him out and gave double techs but J Walsh was the instigator. There was no need for it. No cause. He was just out of control.

The 2nd tech happened a lot like Roy said. I'd describe it a little different. Jordan Walsh was pressuring the ball up court, the Heat player (Larsson?) was beating him along the sideline, Walsh shoulder barged him to push him out of bounds. He was taking a foul to stop the Heat player having an advantage. That was fine. But rather than stop there ... after the shoulder barge out of bounds Walsh pushed Larsson into the sideline / fans. A two handed push in the back. Larsson was not happy. He came back aggressively towards Walsh not violently but aggressively to express his displeasure at the unsportsmanlike play. Walsh then pushes Larsson again in his chest. A mini-fracas follows where players gather around and try to avoid it escalating and turning into a fight. Walsh gets T'd up a 2nd time and kicked out.

Both incidents were pure petulance. Completely unnecessary. Neither should have happened. Had nothing to do basketball. Both deserved T's. Out of control competitiveness.

Hugo started out 0-7 FGA. Finished 3-5 FGA. Kept playing. 3-12 overall but kept trying. Did not give up.

1-7 on his threes. A few stood out. The first one was an offensive rebound I think it was and then he dribbled out, rather than resetting the offense he got trigger happy and took a quick 3 from the wing. Missed. Silly shot. Then he took 2 in transition (catch and shoots, not off dribble). The first one he rushed without getting his feet set. The second one he didn't set up his feet properly on the catch, again off balance, missed both. The one he made was a simple catch and shoot from the wing where his feet was set. His shot looked much better that time. That is 4 of the 7 threes. Did not notice the other ones. Clear need to work on his footwork in stepping into 3s. Cut out off the dribble 3s. Reduce his attempts of 3s to where his feet are set. That will help his shooting percentages.

I liked a few of his drives. Used his body well taking it hard to the rim. Got to the FT line. Got to the rim for a finish. Had another one where he was stripped on a floater. He also had some basic drives and simple drive and kicks. Didn't create anything but kept the ball moving. Gave the offense some motion. Connected the play.

Had a number of turnovers today. 1st one made a mistake and dribbled into a trap. 2nd one a sloppy slick ball-handling move which he didn't pull of. 3rd one he got stripped on a drive as he was shooting. Not too bad. A 4th one he got stripped in transition, from behind I think, dribbling in too much traffic. Not sure about the other 2 turnovers. 6 turnovers overall.

10pts 7reb 3ast on 3-12 FGA 3-4 FTA 6 turnovers

This seems to add up to a young (19 years old) player who is not quite ready for the NBA.  I was hoping he would go along with being stashed in Europe for at least 1 season. Scheierman is 24, will be 25 by the start of the season.

Why are they rushing Hugo Gonzalez?  I guess if he stays in Europe but doesn't play much, that doesn't do much good but I don't think this season on the Celtics will be all that good for his development either.

I like what I am seeing out of Hugo. I think he can play this season.

I agree with taking him out of Europe. He wasn't playing enough to make it worthwhile staying there. His main issue is shooting which are drills he can do here with the Celtics or in Maine / G-League. This is a good place for his development given what he needs to do. He already has the body, the defense, the rebounding, he has some handles, some passing. He has good know-how. He has a lot of things already. It is just his shot. Repetitive shooting drills with coaches. He can do that just as well here (if not better) than over there. So bring him here now and let's get to work. It is not game experience that he needs. It is shooting practice. He can do that here.

I think bringing him here is the best course of action.

Pulling for him and hope it works out. But Hugo could not have started on any of the final four teams last year.

I don't know, I think he'd have a chance at starting on any of them, but especially on Houston.

Hugo age shows, and by this I mean he is too young, when playing against grown men.   The NBA has always been more physical than European basketball.   I am sure it is an adjustment for him.   He needs to work on his body and game.  He is young and this is fixable, folks.    It may not be fixed this year as he has some work to build his strength and you can't do real hard at 21 due to age but I am sure this will improve over time.

The cHEAT made point of attacking his grip on the ball, and the high dribble that is the norm in Europe.  The HEAT always seem to get gritty guys that play hard in their system.

On the positive, he moves well and seems coachable.  That put back in the second half was nice.

Scheierman still  needs the work as I see it.  He has a nice all around game.   I think the corkscrew he does on his shot hurts his accuracy.  He seems to be trying to develop a one legged shot in the mid range.  At least this year, he is in good shape physically, which he was not last year.

I still like Bassey's play  and feel he could be an upgrade over Neemi.  Each game he has had some decent passes, rebounded well and did ok at the rim defense.  He is tied for leading the league in rebounds at 11 per game and 10th in blocks.

I think Amari Williams shot needs broken down and rebuilt by the coaches,  The one handed jumper has a really low release point and is not accurate.   Would it have been better to take Kyle Filipowski at 32   he is killing it in Summer League?

Lol - right now, a 19? Yeah. But that is probably true of anyone in this year's draft outside of Flagg, Harper, and Edgecomb (maybe).

I took that to mean college Final Four teams.
