Looks like Damian Lillard is in the Bay Area according to his recent IG story post. Guess he's headed to GSW

Is this like the time that somebody saw Kevin Love at the airport in Boston?

I mean, it could mean something, or it could mean that a rich guy is traveling for business or vacationing.

Not sure if this is true

https://fadeawayworld.net/nba/boston-celtics/boston-celtics-are-the-frontrunners-for-damian-lillard-after-major-recruitment-pitch

It?s citing an unverified dude on X who has no connection to any outlets and fewer than 1K followers.

So probably true

I understand the reluctance to get excited about Lillard, but tbh I?d be pretty psyched.  Whether it would be a pipe dream or not, the idea of bringing Dame and JT back later in the season provides something to look forward to.  Simons plus sweetener may provide a nice trade deadline acquisition at the 5, and this team could make late season noise.

Winning it all with two guys coming of achilles injuries would be special!

I wonder how the Simons Dame dynamic plays into this. Dame was Simons mentor in Portland. They may even want to play together.

He is originally from Oakland.  So that a) gives him obvious reasons to be in the Bay Area, and b) also gives him obvious reasons to be interested in the Warriors.

But Kevin Love and Rondo shook hands at a Red Sox game! Surely he signed here!

He's also been in Portland, but that doesn't mean he'll sign there. If I'm him, I'm waiting until I get a multi-year offer that I really love and just rehabbing/living my life until then. That would probably include visiting teams (plural, not going to one and then immediately signing)
I'm bitter.

For Lillard to make sense for a team, the team would need to be in a position to forego a whole season (2025-26) while expecting to be a contender 2026 and beyond.  This is why to me, LAL and GSW don't make sense.  They are both absolutely win now.  Can they really afford to tie up money and a roster spot on a player who won't even play in 2025-26?  For LAL, it might be the last season with LeBron.

This is why BOS is in a unique situation.  Want to sit out the entire 2025-26 season?  Great.  The hesitation with BOS is that it would be 2 players out for the year.  That could be worked around with a DPE or 2 I guess.  And may there is a way to work it so that Lillard is not paid for 2025-26 at all and that his contract would start in 2026.  Not sure how that would work other than there just being an understanding between the parties.

So yes, BOS makes a lot of sense for both parties.

This team needs to make up their mind about going tank or contending.    I think we are tying to raise up the asking price for others.

This doesn't affect us this year, he is out for the year.

I keep thinking - what if they get Dame and both he and JT are somehow ready in March. I need to let it go.  Best outcome is a lottery pick to join Lillard and Tatum in 26-27 along with a more experienced Q and PP and hopefully one of this draft picks ready to contribute.   And a trade for a big.  If there was any chance that n they content in 26-26 id be all in on resigning Al, but otherwise, sadly, he?ll find a contender.  If he?s a Laker next season I?ll despise him forever.

If they signed Dame I really wouldn't want either him or JT to rush back.  Next year needs to be a reset under the tax and development year.  2026-2027 with 16 months of rehab for both would be more beneficial then to try and come back in the playoffs where it goes from 10 to 1000 in terms of physicality.  Too risky for another injury.  The bottom of the East isn't good and I doubt the C's are any worse then the play-in.  Now if JB or Dwhite get hurt then they are a lottery team.

I have not really been saying it out loud cause I am not sure I actually believe it, but I certainly cant help but think Tatum has a good chance of being back for the playoffs. Lillard on the other hand I really don't think that it is possible he would come back next season. He is 7 or 8 years older and as someone that has passed Lillards age I feel pretty confident saying those 7 years make a huge difference on recovery.
