HOU is rumored to be looking to trade for more win-now players after trading for KD.

Would BOS-HOU be interested in something like Hauser + some 2nds for Whitmore?

Saves Celtics some money and gets a guy who many (including myself) are very high on.

Gets Houston a win now shooter who has proved he can be a rotational piece on a contending team.

If things shake out the way I think, the rest of the roster would be:

Simons / Pritchard
White / Scheierman / Gonzalez
Brown / Walsh
Whitmore / Niang
Horford / Kornet / Queta

Not a title team by any means, but a team I would enjoy watching with tempered expectations.

Thoughts?

Id rather trade them Brown and get Thompson, Sheppard, Smith, etc.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I don't know why they'd trade Whitmore for Hauser but I'd sure do it.  It would offset Brad's idiotic trade down in the 2nd to acquire more 2nds.

Sign me up for that deal.  Nice young wing to develop.  I'd rather do a Hauser and picks for Kessler deal if hes still on the block.

Not me.  Kessler is going to have to be paid after next season.  Whitmore has an extra cheap season.  Also Kessler can't shoot 3s whereas Whitmore can.

Why are people high on Cam Whitmore?

He has an attitude problem, is a complete black hole on offense, and doesn't compete on defense.

I get that he's a pretty good scorer, he's athletic, and hes 21, but theres a reason a Houston team that desperately needed scoring this year in the playoffs was giving him DNP Coaches Decisions. He's a bum.

Irritating player to watch. Black hole. Horrid shot-selection. No defense. If he could fix some of those problems, he'd be a legit player. A star even. Even if he only partially fixed some of those problems, he could be a JR Smith. An explosive erratic 6th man.

It is a bad sign he has made so little progress in 2 years. He has been in a good team situation to grow. They have a good team-ethic there. A hard working team. Yet little of it seems to have rubbed off on Cam. Bad sign.

He could still come good but not a player I'd be giving up significant value for at this point. I'd rate him closer to a pair of 2nd round picks in terms of trade value.

They arent trading Thompson.
They might for Brown

Brown, Tillman for Smith, Thompson, Sheppard, Eason, Landale

Rockets would be  clear favorites with a top 7 of VanVleet, Brown, Durant, Sengun, Adams, Whitmore, Holiday fill in roster with ring chasing vets and young guys.

I don't know if they'd do it, but I'd ask.

When your roster is as near to complete as the Celtics one of the lowest risk but highest upside ways to make meaningful strides is to target distressed assets. If Cam Whitmore had a strong start to his career then he would have never been available so his lack of production at this point is a benefit not a drawback.

We would also only be giving up Sam Hasuer, who many of us think provides negative value to our team but might still be attractive to the right team close to contention.

So we take a player in Hauser, who we want to see gone (opening up the role for Baylor Scheirman) for a swing at a player who was a prolific scorer in college but was not able to crack the rotation of one of the top teams in the West. If Whitmore continues to be terrible, you cut bait after a year and maybe even salary dump him at the deadline. If he becomes 75% of the player he was projected to be, you sign him to a reasonable second contract. If he blows up and starts living up to his potential, then you acquired a max level player entering his prime when Tatum comes back from injury.

I Can?t tell if ur under valuing Brown on the Celtics or over valuing him for other teams?.maybe it?s both

I think in general we should be following this philosophy. But that doesn?t mean we go after every young malcontent

It makes sense if people see real upside in whitmore. I just struggle to see it with him
