Bye KP. I know you hardly played but I'm going to miss you. You were a Celtic through and through when it came to your attitude.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
No offloading of Niang to increase the TPE either. I think the vast majority of us want to see him gone and it would have made a lot more sense to move him in conjunction with this trade. I'm guessing the Niang market isn't particularly robust

Georges Niang: "I then get traded for Kristaps Porziņģis?which, you know how tough Boston fans are. They don?t give a [ __ ] if I?m from Boston or not. They're like, 'You just took our unicorn and replaced it with a minivan.' They're like, 'Get the [ __ ] out of here!' You know what I?m saying? Like, they want superstars." "Oh, so they treat y?all the same way. You?re like public enemy number one.

Georges Niang: "They?re like, 'What the?what is this? This ain't shiny, man. This got scratches on it!' So now, I?m kind of in the mode of like, 'Okay, obviously JT is out.' But Boston has done a really good job?if you?ve looked at it?when guys miss games. It?s their culture. It?s who they are. So it?s like, 'Okay George, now what can you do to maximize what you have to help them win games?' 'Cause you don?t want to be in Boston losing. That?s for sure. The expectations stand?they expect to win."

Quote
Georges Niang: You know, there are going to be bad days, there are going to be great days. But just show up. Show up and don?t let an excuse make you quit. Everybody has an excuse?'Oh, why this couldn?t go the right way.' Just show up with a competitive nature and grind every single day. I know it sounds clich?, but if you just keep your head forward, by the time you?re like, '[dang], I?m tired,' you?ll look back and 10 years will have passed you by. So just continue to grow, keep going, and show up every day. Don?t quit. That?s the biggest thing?because once you quit once, you realize how easy it becomes... and you?ll quit again."

Well, Niang is saying the right things lol. He does play hard. He?s a decent bench player. Averaged 12ppg and shot 41% from 3pt. Just isn?t starting caliber.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Both Simons and Niang got some pretty quick negativity here. If in the right roles both will be contributors. KP offer more than Niang but their comparative value may boil down to games played.

Niang is fine for a bench player.  He plays hard, stays healthy, and contributes.  There is a reason he is the winningest regular season player over the last 5 years.

I think people are just hating on Niang too much for that one stunt he pulled on Jay Brown. Take away any advantage on your opponents you possibly can if you're the opposing team. Nobody said NBA basketball was a clean sport, always cheapshots and dirty plays, flops here and there lol

Come on, one time we had Keyon Dooling on the same team with Ray Allen. Before that both players got into it with each other. Then they reconciled in Boston.

Hope Niang can translate his hustle and contribution on the floor as a bench player. Can he be like a Bobby Portis typa guy on our team?
