This might be the worst deal Brad has ever made. Niang is rectum sweat and Boston has no bigs now.
Youre seriously not paying attention.  We could have the salary dump or the value but both.

But I am. That return is a pure dump. Nothing more. At some point they need functional players. Niang is not one. These moves are basically for 2026. I get it. But it still doesn't make 2025 any easier to watch.

Going to feel a lot like the year after Danny burned it down with the deal with the nets.

Did you think we were getting value AND salary relief for a guy we u reliable as KP?!?  I mean, at least say you don?t care about the money because that is realistic about kps value.

With all these reports out that there were 13 teams interested in KP... I expected them to get something back better than Niang. He is the last guy in the league I would want them to go get.

I hope they move him.

Which they will never use.

My prediction is that the next cost cutting move will be trading Simons at the trade deadline.  I think Hauser is safe now.  He is a good value at $10M'ish and under control for 4 more seasons.

BOS has 11 signed right now.  We have a first (28) and a second (32) round pick in this draft.  That would get us to the league minimum of 13 on the roster.  We will have 3 2-way contract slots to fill.  That could be our team for the start of 2025-26.

We would be under the second apron at that point, which would open up a few options for trades but why not dump Simons if he is not part of the future?  Let him play as a starter, build some value, and then trade him for a couple of lower cost contracts that will be useful for the 2026-27 season and beyond (or even 1).

I guess the Knicks fans can celebrate that they've ended the Celtics mini-dynasty of 2021-2024

When will the Porzingis trade expected to become official.  Wil it be a held until the 2025-26 season starts (July 1 I think)?  We may be able to finagle something were we trade Simons at the deadline, use the exemption on the incoming player, and kind of role it over to a new TPE that could be used in the 2026 off season.

Going to be epic with their starting 5 is

Simons
White
Brown
Tillman
Queta

Bench:
PP
Hauser
Niang
Baylor
Walsh
Draft pick
Draft pick

That isn't even a play in team.

I respect the passion but this isn't the roster they'll have going into training camp.

Yes, the TPE becomes effective after the start of the next league year because the Nets need cap space to complete the deals. It is possible, therefore, that we could still have it on the first day of free agency in 2026 to participate in a sign-and-trade, opening up free agency options to us next summer.  Further, if we find a taker for Niang in the next two weeks, the TPE could potentially grow to the full value of KP?s $30 million salary, as we rope a 4th team into the deal.

Where can they improve? Still don't have enough to sign Al and Kornet. Not a lot of assest short of burning it down they can move.

Knicks can cheer but they  are not winning anything anytime soon with Brunson and the gang.   They beat a Celtics team with four injured players. Brown with the meniscus, Jrue with thigh, Porzingas with the virus and Tatum with the Achilles.   We were no way near optimum health and they were destroyed the next series and exposed.

This order came down from new management and I think Brad had his hands tied.
