I understand it, but I hate to see Jrue gone. He was a guy I'd wanted on the Cs for quite a while, and he was a big addition when he finally got here.

Agreed. Glad he was able to turn back the clock for one season and help us get the one ring.

The recent Shams tweet makes me think the C's will also trade both Hauser AND Porzingis

Who knows at this point?   Brad seems to pull rabbits out of his hat over and over again.

If trading Sam and KP can get us a really good starting big that is more reliable than KP and also has a high ceiling, please make it happen.
The tell tale quote from Brad came in his end of season press conference when he commented on how the refs allowed a lot more physical play than he expected. That quote alone tells me they're moving both Porzingis and Hauser as neither one likes a physical game.

I would be shocked if either is still with the Celtics on opening night.
Did Brad say anything about moving away from shooting threes? How does wanting a more physical team automatically mean that Brad will trade 2 of his best three point shooters?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I think Hauser is as good as gone.

I'm not so certain on Porzingis anymore. Send Simmons elsewhere to take back a lower salary. Combine that with Hauser to get us under the second apron (We're what, $17 or $18m over?). Hold onto KP as our starting center and hope that he has a good enough first half of the year that he is valuable as an expiring contract at the deadline. Worst case scenario, let him go at the end of the season.

I know it had to happen but sad to see Jrue go.  He's a class act and my favorite player on the team.

I can't see Simons sticking around.  He's not a championship caliber player but Celts won't be competing for a championship next season.  Hopefully he looks good stat padding and he can be moved for some value by the trade deadline.

i feel like it is hard to see his value changing that much at this point given he has average between like 20-22 on a bad/mediocre team the last 3 years already.

Agree that keeping KP is now more realistic. The other factor not yet mentioned in this thread is that Payton Pritchard should not be competing for minutes with Simons. Both are small guards with some defensive liabilities. I see the team committed to PP so flip Simons/Hauser for a big. I would also play Baylor Scheierman more, especially until JT comes back.

I'm in line with both of you guys' thinking.  This makes the most sense.

Brad won't want to dump KP with his value as low as it is right now.  He'll want him to recover and show how good he was with JB in the pick-and-roll.
