I'm starting to get excited about Williams and Queta getting minutes. They both should have the opportunity to earn some minutes.

Wiliams will be in Maine all season. He won't make the roster in Boston IMO.
And by now you know what Queta is.

This is so depressing

I?m saying 35 wins.  :P

If we have no more trades for bigs, wouldn't we be starting Queta?  He seemed to be miles ahead of Tillman.  Longer, bigger, stronger, better on offense.  I know everyone is rolling their eyes about Queta being our best big, but who says with a whole year of starting he probably improves.  He has shown flashes...I mean I know it isn't anywhere close to being ideal.

Lol - if we play Niang and Garza together this year, we won't be any good defensively, but we will be the most annoying team to play when we are on offense. That's two stretch bigs that are truly, truly, truly obnoxious to try to defend.

I don't see Tillman nor Niang starting. Both give you nothing. It will be Queta who is who he is at this point and probably Hauser.

Good news is Joe really can't play double bigs this season because neither Garza nor Queta can defend outside of 10 feet of the basket.

and one from Iowa State and the other from Iowa.  I know Niang still likes to troll the hawkeye fans...might be fun.

I?ve been pretty on it going to watch highlights of our new players and rookies, but man, I just can?t do it with Garza and Niang. This is like Bogans and Humphries all over again. Actually, I wish it was Humphries

People here may not like Niang, but he is a proven NBA rotation player.   Garza isn't good at all.

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=george+niang+highlights+iowa+state#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:d59c1306,vid:5UzcTABhlH4,st:0

If C's keep Niang for a while, he will do some stuff we like.  Yes out of shape.   But yes 40% from 3, and every old man YMCA move imaginable.   Like a bigger slower SloMo.

I mean everyone is allowed to hate any new players they want.  But it's not like Niang and Garza were responsible for Tatum's injury and our cap issues.  They are pawns just like everyone else.  Complaining about it over and over again isn't going to change things.  I don't mean that just to jambr380.

What exactly do you recommend we focus on? I want something positive to latch onto but its been a rough month and a half. Getting beat by an inferior Knicks. JT's awful injury. Tearing down the team in record time and replacing it with junk. Seeing our window most likely close as fast as it opened.

I guess I will look toward 2026.

Niang is a dirty player. Garza is not even NBA material.
"I want something positive to latch onto"

I dont believe you haha

I do...but man it is tough with this offseason and the long slog of the 2025 season on the horizon. The Pitino years were awful. The post KG.PP years were awful. This next year fits that narrative. Guess we are onto 2026.

I'm excited to see how this team goes when there's not a lot expected of them. We always love rookies and young players, well now's the time to see if they develop because they will actually get to play. I'm also excited to see how Joe coaches this coming season, when he doesn't have a super team to coach, and when he has to spread out his minutes a little more to develop players. Will he be up to the challenge, like Brad was when he was faced with a mini-rebuild, or was his success due to the fact that he had a stacked team? I'm excited to find out  ;D

There's a lot I'm looking forward to this year but then again I've never really been a championship or bust kind of person (and this team won't go in with massive expectations and underdeliver, like the 2019 team did - those seasons are worse than these developmental ones in my opinion)
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Since it will be a Hopeless season (or maybe experimental) can't we try Bruno Caboclo at PF instead of Niang..

I'm willing to see what Queta has to offer. Simply because we don't have better options. We don't have anything to spend in free agency except for the MLE. We just signed Luke Garza for a vet minimum deal but he's nothing more than a big 6'10 body at this point in his career.

I don't see Garza as good fit at Center. For me he is more a PF in a "double bigs" setup. Maybe he proves me wrong but I doubt it. Anyone else see him more as a PF?

Just watch Garza's college highlights instead. Pretend we just picked him in the 2nd round
Garza's probably closer to helping a team than any bigs taken in Round 2 last week.

Yup.

Garza is basically what Kornet was when he came to Boston.  Hopefully he has a similar uptick as well

This was my thought as well. Garza has a bit more scoring knack, but a far worse defender.

Living in Des Moines, we saw a lot of Garza at Iowa and while he played for the Iowa Wolves.

He's a productive big. But I don't think we will be winning any championships with him in the rotation.

I was thinking about Garza relative to Mo Wagner. Mo Wagner took a few years to get going in the NBA. To learn how to stay on the floor defensively without killing his team. To allow his offensive skills to shine.

I see them as similar types of prospects. Also, similar to Danny Wolf who many people wanted to take with a late 1st in this year's draft.

That skilled offensive center but dodgy athlete / defender.

I spent all last year thinking he has more to show if he gets more time. It looks like we'll find out this year.

So if Queeta starts (it seems safe to say he's ahead of Tillman and Garza), who is at the four? I think it might be Niang.

Who knows with Joe. He will probably roll out Hauser as a starter.

Common sense says Niang (even tho he is very lacking in pretty much all of his game).
