Hadn't heard Bellinelli's name in a while.  A long and solid career, both here and overseas.  Sounds like he went out a champ in Italy this past season.  Wall was awfully fun to watch before all of the injuries.  He gave the Celtics all they could handle that one 7 game series.
Yup

Feel bad Middleton has to end his career on that team.

It always cracks me up when a player that hasn't played a meaningful minute of basketball in like 4 years announces he is now retiring.

It's kinda' like when an employee gets fired and says, "You aren't firing me. I quit."

There should be a different term than retiring for this. Retiring is something you do gracefully when there is still a small amount of interest in you as a player. It's a graceful exit.

What John Wall and others do is much less ... elegant.

I always think of Keith Van Horn as the poster boy for guys whose contracts became more useful than their skill sets.

Al Horford and the Golden State Warriors continue to wait on a resolution to the Jonathan Kuminga situation before finalizing their agreement.

Horford could be signed for the full taxpayer midlevel exception on a two-year deal with the second season a player option. The taxpayer midlevel exception for the 2025-26 season is worth $5.685 million.

Horford really must like the Warriors and their chances of a title. I thought he'd go to the Lakers by now or retire.

His skillset is tailor-made for that system. It'd be fun to watch him there, even if it did taste bitter.

The Sacramento Kings are reportedly ?trying very hard? to trade Malik Monk to open up a roster spot for Russell Westbrook, per @GrantAfseth

"The Sacramento Kings have been 'trying very hard' to trade Malik Monk this offseason, but they haven't found a taker, an NBA source told Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal ... The Kings have been trying to trade Monk to open up a spot for Russell Westbrook, who is an unrestricted free agent. Sacramento wants to sign Westbrook and bring the former NBA MVP off the bench as its sixth man behind Dennis Schroder."

I don't know if this is accurate or not.

It sounds dodgy.

(1) Why wouldn't they be able to find a taker for Malik Monk? He has been one of the best bench players in the league over the last few years.

(2) Why you want to dump one of the best bench players in the league for a 1yr rental of Westbrook?

(3) Why would you want to dump Monk who has been their long term and one of the team's favourite players among both fans and the team organization for a 1yr rental of Westbrook?

It doesn't make sense to me.

The Kings don?t make sense in general.  That said, the dodgy part to me is not getting rid of Malik Monk, as I have thought all summer they did not need him, but doing so to create space for Russ.

Yeah, so much of that team does not make sense.

(1) Agreed on SAC not needing Monk. Not since they acquired Zach LaVine. LaVine a one position player who needs 35mpg at SG. Not enough minutes leftover for someone as talented as Monk. Monk can play a little point but not that well. He needs to be at SG. He had a better 1-2 punch with Huerter-Monk since Huerter could play 25-28mpg and leave enough minutes for Monk or switch over to SF since Huerter had more size. Monk also had a similar dynamic with Keon Ellis who could start and play 20-25mpg (defensive SG) with Monk playing 23-28mpg as backup (offensive SG). Acquiring LaVine unbalanced their team even further than it already was. And made life difficult for Malik Monk.

(2) The other part of the Westbrook interest that doesn't make sense is Devin Carter. He was a lottery pick last year. He has shown potential. He is already a high quality big defensive PG. He showed promise in SL. He needs minutes to develop. D Carter could become a very good player in the mold of a Suggs in Orlando if D Carter can develop his jump-shot. Why are you trying so hard to block his pathway to playing time? His need for minutes to develop?

You have two PGs already with Schroder and D Carter. There is no urgency for Westbrook. A solid veteran 3rd stringer would be more valuable for those nights were D Carter struggles too badly.
