Seems like we get a skinny Luka every other off season and by the middle of regular season he is back up in weight.

Team needs to help him stay in shape not get in shape. Same goes for Embid. A lot of NBA guys do great work in the off season but can't maintain it with the grind of the season.

Even MJ and Kobe had their bodies change during the grind but they lost weight throughout the season.

NBA needs more rest and diet exploration programs during the season to figure it out.

The thing I am least looking forward to next season is in part that the Lakers will be a contender - but even more than that I'm dreading the unrelenting attention the Lakers will get here.

I'm anticipating that there won't be a day that a Laker thread of some sort will be in the 'latest discussions' section, and any general NBA thread (like this one) will feature constant Lakers updates.  Maybe I'll be wrong.

Reading about the Lakers - especially if it's news related to their high quality of play, or how they're coming together as a team, or how Luka is motivated and playing the best basketball of his career - will put a damper on my day.  So - I'm expecting it, but really not looking forward to it.

I'm not really worried about the Lakers.  I think they'll be the subject of drama all season.

Yeah and also, did LAL really improve much from the offseason? I'll give you Ayton and Smart but they also lost DFS, plus Lebron is a year older and if Ayton continues to coast like he did with Portland then their PF/C situation is still murky. The West is also very loaded. They'll for sure be a playoff team but I still think their ceiling is maybe a 4-5 seed, 2nd round exit. And yeah, there'll be drama involving Lebron in some way. Maybe even if Doncic starts off hot and the cameras go to him, Lebron won't like that lol

Free agent forward Javonte Green is finalizing a one-year deal with the Detroit Pistons, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

Green, 32, split last season between the New Orleans Pelicans and Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging 5.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 68 combined games.

Wow, Javonte Green is already 32. I did not realize he was that old. Nice to see the ex-Celtic hang on in the league.

Quote
The 6-foot-5 Green figures to add a defensive-minded presence to a Detroit wing rotation that includes Ausar Thompson, Jaden Ivey, Duncan Robinson, Caris LeVert and Ronald Holland II.

Five legit rotation players ahead of him in the depth chart so deep bench.

I don't think the Lakers or Clippers can fit him financially right now, if I'm remembering correctly.

He should just sign wherever Westbrook does (Sacramento) and bring back that UCLA synergy.

Back to Minnesota for Love, is my guess.  Finish his career where it started, this time on a contender.  Minny only has 13 players on its roster, so they need to add a minimum salary contract anyway.

Nice replacement for Luka Garza.
