Brown to Jazz for Markkanen and Kessler works in trade machine... I think we'd have to have picks coming back but it frees us up to Trade KP ...

Yeah maybe. But I want that #2 pick the spurs have. And they control the hawks pick next year. I want that one too. That?s my starting point.

That is a very interesting trade idea.

F: Tatum, Hauser
F: Markkanen, Horford
C: Porzingis, Kessler

Strong frontcourt

After next season Kessler needs an extension, so long term this isn't going to save that much money.
Markkanen is just like Brown too one-dimensional to me for that kind of money. Not a fan.

I am not sure what interest Utah would have in Jaylen Brown. They are so far away from competing for anything. Not even close to making a run for a playoff spot. Never mind winning a playoff series or making a long playoff run.

I get the feeling that Utah is getting close to trading Markkanen for spare parts in the near future. Their timeline is too far off to get value out of Markkanen basketball wise. I expect they will dump him for whatever assets they can pickup for him - which should be good quality assets. Youth & picks. Not a vet like Jaylen.

It is and it puts less pressure on a healthy Porzingas and we also get a Horford replacement. I?d hate to trade Brown but I do worry about how he ages a bit and he is on a massive contract. I always thought Markkanen would be a great low maintenance 2nd option. I would try to snag a nice prospect like Sensabaugh to help with guard/wing depth.

I don?t really see the point for the Jazz though. I would think they would want to pair Markkanen with Brown, and they wouldn?t be set up to win in this type of deal.

It would really be a bummer in the end though to trade Brown.

TP Liam. I'd rather keep Jaylen but this idea actually seems logical if it comes to it. As @Who outlined the roster becomes more balanced and complete with some long term pieces. But as @JBCat also says idk why Utah would do this, are they in "win now mode".

But more than that I'd rather keep Jaylen personally. You have a Tatum-Jaylen duo for many years to come, I'd rather keep that and not mess anything up. Most teams yearn for a duo like that, sometimes in their lifetimes. We've already won once with them, keep trying to add around those two and White.

Maybe if they include the 5th pick, but still just a maybe with that.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I get it, but the team that gives up the best player in a deal usually loses.

Markkanen is one of the worst contracts in the league. I know he had a good year a couple of years ago, but I'm not sure I would be down for this trade. Not without major draft compensation coming back our way

It seemed like Markkanen was on really good trajectory, but last year he came back down to earth and looked more like the Chicago version of him.

All of his numbers were down across the board - points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, FG%, 3p%.

That coming down to earth seemed to coincide with him landing his new big contract. I'm not really sure he is worth that contract. He's more in the Michael Porter Jr., Aaron Gordon, Kyle Kuzma, Tobias Harris, Andrew Wiggins, Jerami Grant, Harrison Barnes range of player. But he's being paid way more than any of them. On top of that, he's never really figured out defense.

I do think he'd be a great replacement for the Nuggets and Porter Jr. if they can swing that trade. But he's not a 2nd option on a championship-level team.

Would the Jazz's 5th overall pick this year be enough for you?

I would then try pump up his stats this season and try to flip him next year for more draft compensation.

I like Markkanen but not for Brown. And not on that contract.
