I still think that trading Jrue to GSW as I described above is the most likely trade of everything I have seen (although still unlikely), but I don't think we can rule out that they would trade Jaylen Brown.  My Jaylen Brown trade is with ATL:

Jalen Johnson and Terrance Mann
for
Jaylen Brown

Only saves about $7.6M but then we could trade Hauser and and the savings would be around $18M.  This is the best trade I can come up with that would make some level of sense for both teams but even this is not that great of a trade for BOS.  Maybe ATL has some picks they could include.  My assumption is that ATL would resign Capela and then. have a decent team.

The more I look at scenarios, the more it looks like Jrue Holiday is the one traded.

That would be a pretty good team

G: D White, Pritchard
G: T Mann
F: Tatum, Hauser
F: Jalen Johnson
C: Porzingis

I would still trade Jrue in a cap dump to complete the necessary financial savings. Hopefully allowing the team to keep Al Horford or to receive a Horford replacement via the Jrue trade. That would be the squad a strong 8 man rotation.

If Porzingis is healthy, that is a title contender. That margin for error we have had these past 2 seasons will be smaller after the salary dump of Jrue & the trading of Jaylen Brown. Porzingis will need to be healthy & effective for Boston to contend. But if he is healthy, that is a contender.

I love the athleticism & defensive quickness of D White, T Mann, and Jalen Johnson alongside a post-injury Tatum & Porzingis. I think that will be the identity of the team.

I think Brad will build around JB, DW, and KP and see where it goes. If KP gets back to his old form (which i think he will), that can still be a dangerous core. My bigger question is if Brad holds on to Joe or does he elevate Cassel? I head in one of those celtics podcasts that Joe would be entering the last year of his contract next season. The fact that Brad hasn?t offered him an extension is interesting. Then again, I would not be surprised if Brad does give him an extension soon. It?s gonna be an exciting off season for us for sure.

How about this one for a 3rd team to make the deal work:

GSW
In:  Holiday (from BOS)    Out:  Kuminga (S&T to WAS), Hield (to BOS)

BOS
In:  Hield (from GSW), Bey (from WAS)   Out: Holiday (to GSW)

WAS:
In:  Kuminga (S&T from GSW)   Out:  Bey (to BOS)

Bey isn't expiring but between Heild and Bey that is still only about $15M so BOS saves about $17M, not enough to get under the 2nd apron in 2025-26, I don't think, but would save a lot of tax and get us much closer and with a lot more options.  Not everything I would like to get out of trading Holiday but better than just stretching him.
Then trade Hauser for a 2nd rounder or two and fill the 2 open roster spots with minimum contracts to get below the 2nd apron.
That would end being Holiday and Hauser for Hield and Bey, saving about $27M in 2025-26.  A downgrade overall but it gets under the second apron without totally gutting the roster.

Just came here to ask this - thanks. Would love to keep KP and still get under the 2nd apron. Not sure what options we would have to fill out the rest of the roster but still having JT/JB/DW/KP would be huge.

If we are under the 2nd apron are we able to aggregate salaries again?
You can always aggregate salaries provided you're under the 2nd apron AFTER the trade is processed

I don't really want to trade Brown but if I did, I don't think I would trade Holiday too.  I would rather trade Hauser, start Holiday, and have Terance Mann come off the bench to back fill the Hauser role.  Or just find a 3rd team for Mann.

Yeah, I would trade T Mann to a 3rd team instead of Hauser if the team was keeping Jrue. I don't see the need for a $16mil backup wing when we have Hauser at $10mil.

I like the lineup with T Mann more than with Jrue. Not sure why. Too many ball-handlers? 4 guys who want to dribble the ball with Jrue there. Jrue not as good off-ball as a spot up shooter. Older. Not as quick. More expensive. The drop-off from Jrue ($32mil) to T Mann ($16mil) is worth to save the cash. Mann can replace most of what Jrue does.

All fair points.  I like Mann as a bench player, not as much as a starter.  There is only 1 season out of his 6 year career where he was a regular starter.  Averaged about 9 pts in 25 minutes for LAC.  Holiday is an all star level, established starter.  I see the comparison more of do you want Hauser at $11M or Mann at $16M.  Both are nice versatile bench guys.  Mann certainly more athletic, Hauser may shoot a little better.

A bit of an off-topic post amidst all the chatter, but when do we predict the C's will actually make moves? Will it be like right after the Finals end, or late June/early July? The wait is also a bit annoying, we've had so much time since unfortunately being eliminated earlier than expected
