I don?t get the ? bracing ? ?..what a strange word ?..he sounds like he trying stir problems that haven?t even been addressed.  Plus WHY or what do other GM have to do with any of this ? No they are not involved in any way at this point ,  none of this wording makes ant since . Sounds light click bate to me .

It's because "some NBA teams expect the Celtics to consider financially motivated trades" doesn't generate as many clicks.

Interestingly, he cites only league sources, rather than Celtics sources.

Which has always seemed to be his M.O.

Although, I think its common sense more than anything that the Celtics are going to have to do something in the near future in regards to the CBA.  We don't need an NBA insider telling us that.
This is where I am at too, and yes the word ?bracing? seems really odd.

Who needs a high mileage premium Jrue Holiday when you could get a slightly used Ben Simmons for a fraction of the cost? Kristaps Porzingis? A luxury, just an embarrassment of riches. Go find a way to pick up Walker Kessler who has been languishing in Utah just waiting for a real opportunity.

There?s a good chance this summer is going to sting, but when the dust settles, I believe there will still be a championship team stepping out from the rubble.

Shams is just stating what most of us here are already expecting. If we don?t repeat I would think Jrue, KP, and JB would be trade candidates. One or two of them. And then some bench guys would be moved as well. If we go B2B i would guess Sam, Jrue, and Luke would be gone. KP would then sign a team friendly extension to remain with the team.

I still think if the Lakers can dump a future expiring, Holiday & draft equity for Reaves suits both teams.

Celtics would cut close to 20 million in salary & Reaves defensive weaknesses would be minimized surrounded by White, Brown & Tatum.

The Lakers obviously cannot win with two defensive liabilities (Doncic & Reaves) & Jrue is the perfect backcourt partner to counter Luka and his deficiencies.

I could also see the Celtics dumping Hauser for a draft pick or a more cost controlled youngster. Hauser has a skill set and contract that would be very attractive to most NBA teams.

Why exactly would we help the Lakers by doing this?

We'd get the best #3 option in the NBA  ;D Also Jrue's on the other side of his 30s so he's getting there in age.

we already have the best #3 in the NBA -- Zinger.

If C's make finals, biggest move may be just moving Hauser and relying on Baylor next year to take his spot

Hauser is gone IMO. Baylor steps in for him.

Jrue might be moved. PP steps into a starting spot..

KP probably stays

Al retires.

PP, White, JT, JB and KP start

Have to retool the bench big time.

If we absolutely HAD TO trade Jrue, I wonder if DET would be interested in swapping Ron Holland for him. Pistons front office likes Holland, but maybe they think they?re close to making a real run and think Jrue might be the piece to elevate them up a level.

Saves the Celtics about $24 million. DET can throw in their second rounder from UTA to sweeten the pot.

Again, I?m opposed to trading Jrue, but if management wants to for financial reasons, they could do a lot worse on the trade market.

honestly, I don't think Al is going to retire - particularly if they win.  I think he's going to play another year or 2.  his defense and shooting is a real key for this team.

Tillman's not replacing him nor are the C's likely to find his replacement in the bargain basement of free agents they'll be eligible to sign nor are they going to draft his replacement (at least not one that can step in immediately and provide anything close to what Al provides).

Am I to believe that the first off-season for the new Celtics ownership, that they're going to essentially break up a championship caliber team? The same ownership group that just bought the team for a record $6B?

On one hand, it looks really bad from a PR perspective. However, fans should understand because the correction had to eventually happen. Part of me has wondered why this wasn't part of the negotiations, since Wycs group knowingly put the team in this luxury tax situation.

Bracing? Or hoping?

If C?s go back-to-back in June, there?s no good argument to break it up. Take the hit (and probably smaller than you?d think) financially for the chance at history. Russell. Jordan. Shaq+Kobe. They?d deserve the opportunity to run it back.

Who spends 6.1 Billion dollars to break up a championship level team? Unless we are bringing in the Mavericks front office and management, I think we are going to be just fine.

As I have been saying for years, when all is said and done, Tatum and our Celtics will have won at least 4 titles. I still think we have a great chance to repeat this year.
