StatMuse: Last four players with over 225 steals in a season: Gary Payton, Scottie Pippen, John Stockton, Dyson Daniels. Elite company. via x.com

Expanding on Goldstar88, I thought Dyson Daniels deserved his own post. What Daniels has accomplished this season is remarkable.

Alvin Robertson (three times), Michael Jordan, John Stockton, Don Buse, Michael Ray Richardson, Slick Watts & Dyson Daniels are the only NBA players to average 3 steals per game for a season in NBA history. The Australian is the first to achieve the feat in 34 years.

Daniels should also be up for the most improved award this season.

Points from 5.8 to 14.2

Rebounds from 3.9 to 5.9

Assists from 2.7 to 4.3

Steals from 1.4 to 3.0

I'm actually kind've surprised Mookie never did it.  I remember him being a steal machine.  Never quite got to 225, though. He topped out at 212 three different times!

Quite the stretch here, though.

He's annoying to play, but I love his growth as a player and defender. Only 22 y/o too.

If the Hawks had kept Hunter they could have been really interesting. Daniels has turned into an amazing defensive "pest" which ATL never really had, and Okongwu has turned into a very solid center for them. Problem is, they just don't have a legit #2 consistent scoring option alongside Trae. Which is weird because they still score a lot, but I think in the big games it could cost them not having a Dejounte Murray or someone similar (almost like Hunter, who they dealt at the deadline). Also a bit risky having to rely on the rookie Risacher this early for big production, which they probably will need to realistically make the playoffs and even win a round.

On a side note, I was reading a post there about Risacher and his stats this season that said if you take out the first few weeks of the season when he struggled, his production is actually pretty good. Or at least his efficiency; not his production.

So if I start around the end of November which gives us 55 game sample. Risacher is averaging 13ppg in only 24.7mpg (19pts per 36min) on 48% FG% 39% 3PT% shooting. It is still only a 58.5% TS% (+1.0% rTS%) due to low FTAs (under 2 FTAs per game).

I was shocked his numbers were that good.

Some Hawks fans were comparing his rookie season stats as being similar to a rookie Jayson Tatum. Optimistic Hawks outlook there!

I love Dyson. Very hard working, humble and down-to-earth young man. Just quietly went about becoming his country's current best basketballer. Be great to see him on the Celtics when White and Holiday have moved on.
