Alex Ovechkin has scored his 895th career NHL goal to break the hallowed all-time record of Wayne Gretzky. Ovechkin achieved the feat in his 1487 game, the same number Gretzky had played in the NHL.

Yep, it was a bullet.

Although it is a shame Ovechkin did not break the record on his home ice, it was a great moment shared with Gretzky in attendance.

Gretzky also has way more assists than Ovechkin. Ovi's a great goal scorer, for sure, but I don't think he can be in the conversation for greatest of all time (if that's even a conversation in hockey, given how awesome Gretzky was).
