From what we've heard so far, it doesn't sound anywhere near as serious as you're making it sound NG. I know a lot of us have sustained ankle sprains in the past of differing severities. Let's hope it isn't too bad and Tatum will be ready to come back sooner rather than later (even less than the 3 weeks you mentioned). Of course, get him all the rest he needs. He's already eligible for All-NBA.

It looked really bad initially based on Tatum's reaction, as he's usually pretty tough when it comes to injuries and this time around rolling around on the court in what appeared to be excruciating pain.

However he did get back up to shoot the free throws after it was looked at by the trainer, and he walked back off on his own later to sit down seemiy without too much trouble, so hopefully it's one of those injuries that just hurt really badly initially but isn't actually that serious.

I don't understand the panic.  Why are people thinking he's going to be out a month?

It's not going to shock me if Tatum is back in 3 or 4 games.  Hell, Cooper Flagg missed what, a few days?

Yeah, I agree.

One thing I like about Tatum is it seems that he truly loves the game/fans and really hates taking games off.  He seems to have the old school that if he's capable of playing then he will try to play. I don't expect him to miss more than a handful of games.

I think people were just a bit cautious because his initial reaction to the injury seemed really bad.

FWIW, Tatum is listed as doubtful for tomorrow. So he's likely not playing but it has to be encouraging he's listed as doubtful and not "out"

I think there is plenty of reason to be concerned, it is perfectly understandable.  No one knows for sure, not even Tatum or the Doctors.  He is probably going to be fine for the playoffs, based on what is known.

What would worry me more is if he is seen in a boot.  The immobilization leads to loss of muscle conditioning, at least it did when I was in a boot.  There is the time needed for whatever injury to heal, and then there is time to build back up the muscle.  I have not seen or heard anything about a boot so that is good.

If this was a significant injury he'd have been in a walking boot.  All reports were he left in shoes and had a minimal limp.

Hope everyone can sleep now.  :)

Tatum told ESPN?s Ramona Shelburne that his injured ankle was ?just sore.? The Celtics star adding on a promo for the ?New Heights? podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce that he is on the mend.

I?m feeling good, man, Tatum said. Just a few benefits to being 27. You recover a little bit faster.  I?ll be alright.

I didn't think it looked that bad. It wouldn't be a bad thing if they did sit him for the rest of the regular season, but I also think he'll be back in a week.

JT doubtful for tomorrow.

No way he plays and they risk it, but I think it?s a positive sign that he?s only doubtful instead of fully out, as well as that we haven?t heard anything about him being reevaluated in a week or two or anything like that.

If he misses Wednesday and Saturday that would get him a full week of rest and he'd only miss two games. That sounds possible.

Everyone dooming about 2009 yet Tatum warming up today like he is ready to suit up and go

(I would still have the team kidnap him and and prevent him from playing for at least a week)

Yup, Tatum's biggest flaw is that he still wants to play when the coaching staff would rather him sit.  Not a bad probelm to have.
